I know we had a previous thread on this West Virginia department but I am unable to find it. My apologies if I missed it.
I was in the Harpers Ferry, West Virginia area today and decided to make a quick detour to see the Bakerton Tactical Fire Department in Jefferson County.
This FD is becoming very interesting to follow as a variety of used apparatus continue to make their way to Bakerton.
Here is what I found today and I am hoping others will have some additional info on where some of these trucks came from and other info on the apparatus. I also know that a tractor trailer tanker is in service at Bakerton, but it was not here today because of mechanical issues (I spoke to the Chief of Bakerton several weeks ago).
I believe that this engine came from Hurricane, West Virginia (other end of the state) and is a GMC/FMC 1000gpm with serial number 4063. Anyone know a year on this?
1983 Ford 8000/4-Guys and marked as Heavy Rescue 20 from Murrysville Station 20. This is from Murrysville, PA, and per their web page, it has a 850 gpm pump and carries 500 gallons of water.
They are new and looking to get established with the help of the community and other departments. I am planning on meeting with the FD in the future to help get the word out about this new department in hopes that other departments can help.
I know there were some other apparatus that Bakerton had including:
old Kentland, Maryland pumper which I believe was sold
A 1971 Oshkosh/Pierce/Snorkel 85' 1000gpm - anyone know if they still have this?

Yes, it is a former Hurricane rig. If I remember correctly, it's a 1984. Also, the tractor trailer tanker came from the Minotola Fire Company of Buena Vista Township, NJ.

Hey I know this truck! I've worked off of it a few times at the Putnam county fire school. I don't have specs but, the story behind the "fire" paint job is that a local body shop did it for free. It is a free hand work. Hurricane runs 800 series numbers on their rigs. I think this was 814 back in the day. Gas engine, manual tranny 1000/1000, had a dump valve as well. These FMC's were pretty popular in WV. My dept. had one similar to this

There were several of these Seagrave/Western States tankers in Oregon and Washington State. Typically, they had 1250 gpm intra-cab pumps and 2000 gallon-tank. I will check my date-base, when I'm back at home.
I was told that the original chief wanted to put "tactical" in the name to make it sound different and more appealing to those who may want to volunteer...
