While we were at Carova Beach, we inquired about their new ladder truck and were told that it was still at the dealership in Rocky Mount.  The Chief told us that he would be going to pick it up in the morning and take it to the E.M.A. Office at the County Courthouse complex.  Arrangements were made and when he arrived, we were waiting for him.

As we headed south on Route 12, we took two ferry rides, one from Cape Hatteras to Ocracoke Island (about 1 hour) and from Ocracoke Island to Carteret County (about 2 hours).  Luckily, it was a beautiful day and the water was calm.

Our first stop in Carteret County was Cedar Island.  The fire house was wide open, but not a soul to be found.  After waiting a bit, we headed to Atlantic, which was closed up and again, not a soul to be found.  Next was Sea Level, which has recently merged with Atlantic to become the Down East FD.

The crew at Station 29 was unable to locate anyone to meet us back in Atlantic, but they did contact the Chief at Cedar Island and he agreed to meet us.
