In 1966, a new station is built to provide improved coverage to a rural area of the township, with a small population. but large geographic area. Station 8, when opened, is the only all volunteer station in the department.

1967 brings about Canada's centennial celebrations. To coincide, the status of Wellington is incorporated as a City, due to the rapidly growing population base. For the first time, station numbers are being added to the trucks to identify the station it runs from, the shop number is also maintained on the rigs.

A single rig is purchased in 1967, this Seagrave that is assigned to Engine 3. The former Engine 3 becomes a spare. Original photo from Deviantart
