Quote:Ok, in order to correct the distorted photos that I posted earlier, I re-scanned them. I'll post them below. But first, I found this one and re-scanned it too. It wasn't posted earlier. It is a former Westbrook Fire Protection, Dundalk, MD 1964 Ward LaFrance Pumper known as Engine 642. I don't know the other specifics.
This is 85-08, a 1964 Mark I 1000/300 delivered to Kenmore, NY. When retired by Kenmore, it was sold to a collector in the Baltimore area named Westbrook.
Unlike the rest of the rigs posted so far, this one is a Model 85. Note the lack of an engine compartment behind the cab. The engine was located between the driver and officer seats. This is #85-47, delivered on 5-8-73. My list also shows two Model 80's delivered to Freeport. #80-640 was delivered on 8-16-72, #80-713 was delivered on 4/27/73. I have no info on either of these except that I know Freeport had a Model 80 with a Hi-Ranger platform. Anyone know more?
The only other WLFs of this style that Freeport had were the Hi-Ranger and a pumper for Hose 4, so it would be these two rigs. I have them both as 1972 models. Here is the Hi-Ranger....
This rig must no longer be in service. Last week I found it sitting in a yard with a few other engines and random trucks in Bay Shore, LI. It was mostly intact and still had all of its markings. I'm hoping to get a chance to get some pics of the rigs soon.
It was replaced by a 1998 Spartan/RD Murray, and for quite some time sat outside behind Hose 5's firehouse.
I believe you know how I feel about this topic <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wub.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> . I'm sure you knew that I just had to thank you for starting this thread. But now I'm wondering if my question about the P85 spark the idea for the thread?
