I found this rig sitting outside the Tazewell FD in Marion County. I'm pretty sure they never placed it in service and have since sold it to a collector.

Most likely from Norfolk VA...Navy Region Mid Atlantic
I suspected as much, but have not been able to verify. The lack of numbers makes it difficult and those identifying tags had been removed. The fact that the Navy had several of these doesn't help determine which one is which. The only clue might be the lower compartment doors, which were originally roll ups, but have been changed to a traditional door on the front one and a cargo net on the back one.
Yeah its from Norfolk. It was the last base to have the KMEs in service . All were lime green . I last shot them in 2011 before all were sold
This one is a bit of a mystery. Back in 1990, Fuquay-Varina, NC purchased two identical tankers, assigning them as Tankers 1 and 4. In 2004, I photographed Tanker 1. This rig is one of them, but I have not yet determined which one. While I have the production numbers for both, the numbers on this one are gone. The ID Tag on the body is missing and the DOT sticker has been damaged, the part with the number is torn off. This one might be the former Tanker 1 or it might be former Tanker 4.
