I recently visited the fire department in Unadilla, GA for the first time. They are staffed completely by volunteers, operating two fleets of apparatus, housed in three stations. One fleet is owned by the City of Unadilla and the other is owned by Dooly County. Most apparatus had a previous life elsewhere.

On April 1, 2021, the Greene County Fire Department began staffing five fire stations 24/7/365. Eight separate volunteer fire departments also provide protection in Greene County. Several apparatus have been purchased for the career crews.
