On the way home, I stopped at the Ten-8 facility in Forsyth, GA to see what was sitting around.  New Pierce quints were sitting inside the fence for Richmond Hill and Henry County.  Outside the fence sat this rig, suffering some extensive damage, as can be seen at the front bumper and the top hard suction rack and hose bed cover.  The rear compartment door was missing, but after several minutes in the photo shop, I replaced it.  The other side was much worse.

This apparatus was purchased new by the Milner Volunteer Fire Department in Lamer County, GA.  For many years, it was their primary apparatus.  While I made several stops at Milner over the years, I never saw it as their station has "anti-buff doors".  Sometime in the early 1990's, the Milner VFD ceased to exist and the Lamar County FD took over operations, but was also volunteer, so again, I never saw it.  Fast forward several more years and Lamar County began staffing Station 1, then a few more years, staffing Station 6.  I stopped at 6's one day to shoot their pumper and saw the old Milner rig sitting in the back bay, hood up and missing the carburetor.  It also had ugly white magnetic "Lamer County Fire Department" signs on the cab doors.  When I inquired about it, I was told that the Chief had not yet decided what to do with it - repair it, re-chassis it or sell it.  That was about three years ago.
On Friday, I stopped by Station 1, looking for the Chief, in an attempt to find information on apparatus photographed many years ago.  The old Milner rig was sitting in one of the bays, but neither the Chief nor the paid guys were there.  I was told by the EMS crew that it had been repaired and was in running condition, but they were not authorized to move it for me.  They also told me about a new pumper that Engine 1 had (the one I posted yesterday).  Saturday was a very nice day, so I returned to Station 1, photographing the new engine, the used tower and the old Milner rig.  It is being repaired to become the department's parade unit.  It is all original, except the electronic fuel injection system that was recently added.
