Open Cab Mack,

Latrobe's Pioneer went to Adah in Fayette County. It replaced a 1973 Mack that was X-Gill Hall I think. The ALF was just recently replaced by another Mack though. A 1973/88 Mack/4-Guys X-Rohrerstown, PA/Mary-D, PA.

Then that is the one refurbed by 4-Guys and was Madison, Westmoreland County Station 18. Where did the Pioneer go. I remember it before the refurb when Latrobe #1 had it.

Open Cab Mack,

Neither of the rigs I mentioned were from Madison, in Westmoreland County. I'm not sure where their mack ended up, but I'll see if I can find out. The pioneer was still sitting out back of Adah's station when we were down for the convention. It was for sale, but had nobody even looking at it.

That was around 1988-1990 if I'm not mistaken.

Sorry Shoop, the last picture I saw of it resembled Madison's. Except the truck was all red. I figured it was just repainted. The 4-Guys body on it looks just the same. Madisons was refurbed around the same time ours was. Thanks for the info.

If this is the rig being discussed from Adah, it was xGill Hall, PA, and was not repainted by Adah. (or rehabed) I don't know if it is still there.

Open Cab Mack,

I'm still trying to find out where Madison's went. Somebody told me at one time, but I can't remember who or where?

Doc,

The X-Gill Hall mack left whenever they purchased the ALF Pioneer. Unsure where it went.

At one time, Madison, Westmoreland County, had two stations. They ran the Mack CF, a Ford C/FMC, a Ford L/4-Guys tanker and an old ambulance squad (ex Sutersville). Here is a short disposition of each:

1. The tanker was refurbished with a newer Ford L9000 (former over-the-road) cab and is still in service.

2. The CF was sold (location forthcoming) upon purchase of the KME rescue engine they have now (known to us at Waltz Mill as "the turd" due to its small motor).

3. The squad ended up junked and was replaced by a Chevy/Stahl(?) utility truck that was formerly Ligonier.

4. The old Ford/FMC ended up at Yukon and ran for a short while was Engine 19-4; it ended up at D&A Auto Auction and was apparently sold in Colorado.

Now, I have never heard of a Pioneer at Madison; from the looks of it, this preceding descrition takes Madison apparatus back to the early 80s. However, since I am still relatively young, that doesn't mean I missed something!

A visit to the Brownsville VFC#1 revealed another old rescue squad has met its demise. We were informed that the former R5 was taken to a scrapper and the body removed.

Brownsville #1 also removed this 1967 ALF 900 Series 1000/500 from active duty, it is stored awaiting restoration.

Dr.,

Info on the rescue. So the body was removed and scapped, the chassis was saved for some other use ?

Many thanks,

Bruce

Nice shot Doc. The last open cab CF that Mack manufactured. CF 685 F(10) 1644. It is now collector owned and in good hands. Doc, do you have a shot of it in service at Connellsville?
