Some final Loudoun County apparatus news. Here is information I have of apparatus on order:

Leesburg - new Seagrave tiller and two new Seagrave engines

Purcellville - in addition to the Tanker, the department is rebuilding a new Jeep brush truck

Middleburg - a new Pierce Squad has arrived and is currently being readied for service

Aldie - A 2006 Smeal Sirius engine is due shortly and Loudoun County will place a new Ford F ambo at the station.

Arcola - purchasing a Spartan/Ferrara 1500/750. I have been told this will run from South Riding.

Neersville - new Ford F ambulance, similar to the Aldie unit.

Hamilton Rescue - placed into service a new Ford F ambo

South Riding - Pierce Dash 95' tower

Loudoun County - ordered three Pierce Dash engines

Those are the highlights. Should be a busy and fun year in Loudoun.

Also told the county was going to put a new squad at Leesburg, not sure if they are for certain or not but they are on the grapevine.

Terry,

I have not heard a confirmation about a squad in Leesburg. As you may know, Leesburg operates seperate fire and rescue companies. The Rescue squad operates a heavy squad and Loudoun County now has paid staff at the rescue company for the squad. Squad 13 is a 1992 E-1, so it is getting some age.

The interesting arrival in Leesburg will be the new Seagrave tiller truck this year. It will be equipped with extrication tools. I have been told that once the Seagrave tiller is in service, Leesburg's current rescue engine (1995 E-1 Protector) will be sold. A lot of decisions I believe are still up in the air.

Nice shots of the new Tankers Mike! Once I get myself a new camera in a day or two, I'll update the process of my station's soon to be Jeep2 with in the Jeep post or here. For now:

Early stage with just about everything ripped out.

Other pics can be seen at www.purcellvillefire.org. Currently she has the pump in place and the majority of the unit has been painted.

Looking forward to seeing updated photos. I was at Station 2 just after the beginning of the year. It sounds like a lot of work has happened since then.

Is Purcellville getting another Pierce Quantum?

While I was at FESCO Emergency Sales today I shot a couple dreaded inside shots of Leesburg's new TDA. It's an impressive rig and the members there should be proud because they spec'd a nice unit that will serve their area for years to come.

I wasn't able to do much around it as they were applying the lettering and striping as you can see in some of the pics.

Some of the unique features of the unit include an Amkus Ultimate System and assorted hydraulic rescue tools. This unit is going to run as a rescue unit and will be equipped with rescue struts, cribbing and other assorted rescue gear. It has a 30kw Harrison Hydraulic Generator, 100' steel aerial and of course the standard truck company tools.

Hopefully someone from Virginia will shoot the rig after it is delivered to Leesburg.

The compartments behind the cab have hydraulic reels and tools mounted in them.

This one is a little blurry but it shows some of the trailer, they are still mounting tools in the compartments and are about two thirds complete.

I have a couple other shots of the compartments that were complete with the tools mounted. If anyone wants to see them I'll post them later. If not, that's all folks!
