Does anyone know any information about what Seattle is getting? I was there this summer and randomly saw a brand new Pierce Arrow XT hazmat truck, to replace the old one, but now i've heard seattle is getting a new heavy rescue and a couple of new ladder trucks? anyone got pics?
here is the new hazmat...taken with me phone, sorry!
Both the Hazmat and Rescue squad will be replaced by nearly identical Pierce rigs. Both were in, but not in service as of mid July. The ladders will be built by Crimson and one will be a Tractor Drawn, to replace Ladder 1. The other is a straight RearMount, and while I was told where it will go, I do not remember.

I was at Pierce this past weekend and saw the new rescue. It is a BEAST! It is on the Arrow XT, but has a full 6 man cab on it, with a walkin from the cab to the body. Looks very nice!

there was a Spartan/Hackney @ the Dallas show for Seattle. There is a pic of it on the code 3 board under research & development, FRI2006 Dallas, TX post.
seattle has a 'technical rescue' that gets assigned to rope rescues, extrications, water rescues. When i worked downtown, once a week a window washer would get stuck and the full assignment for a 'rope rescue' would be assigned, including rescue 14 and the ladder and ambulance from that station.
Ladder 7 and Rescue 14 are cross-staffed. Generally on any major call they take both rigs. There has been talk that they'll disband the truck and just run the rescue when the new Pierce is delivered. I believe that the new Pierce will carry a full compliment of ground ladders, so it seems possible that they'll just run the rescue from now on.

Here are some photos of UNIT 77, Seattle's 2006 Pierce HAZ-MAT truck. It was opereating this morning on a suspicious package incident at King Street and First Ave, one block from QWEST Field.

The only other new rig, besides the Pierce Rescue and HAZ-MAT is the new E-1 for Engine 25. Ladder 1 will be receiving a new Crimson TDA by mid summer.
