The Union FC of Oxford, PA ran this Ford C/Pierce pumper that was equipped with an LDH hose reel. Mattson Collection
Scott - additional info:
1981 Ford C/Pierce, canopy tilt-COE, 1000/750. The unique feature about this unit is that it has a large diameter hose reel which holds 2000' of 4" supply line. It was delvd in 5/81 but not put into service until 11/81 because the company waited 5 months for the manufacture to correct an overheating problem which was not repaired properly until a TV community advocate intervened. It was involved in a accident on a ice packed road on 1/10/94 while responding to a working structure fire in Lancaster County. It rolled onto its side slightly injuring three firefighters. It was declared a total loss. The pump and hose reel were salvaged for the new rig. Engine 21-2.
I can help you out with this piece of information.... Sabula is just outside of Dubois off of Route 80. I never saw this piece, but they are currently running a big 4 wheel drive Seagrave Snorkel (like the one from Stockertown, Pa).
South Brownsville's Seagrave 85' Ladder Photo taken at the 2006 CAFAA Spring Muster in Westminster, MD. The rig currently has under 16K miles on it and is operational.

The Perkasie and Rockledge rigs were shot at the 1993 Rose Tree muster.
The Sabula rig is a 1967 Bruco/Hi-ranger and was xSpangler,PA. The photo was taken in the summer of 1989, I suspect at a Western PA. convention in Barnesboro/Spangler? It was replaced at Sabula by a 1974 FWD/Pierce/Snorkel 1250/300/55ft. x?,Illinois.
The 2 Seagrave classic engines are now out of service at S. Brownsville.
