1954 American LaFrance 700 Series Engine

Former New Albany Fire Department

New Albany, Indiana

1250 G.P.M. Pump

Model No. 712-PEC

Registered No. 9351

This one has its own website: http://www.poolpartyexpress.com

And, no, it didn't have the original Model "E" V-12 in it; it had been re-powered with a 6V53 Detroit Diesel Engine. It did have a swimming pool in the back of it, though. Hmm.

Neither of the Summerdale ALF's are the Century model, both are 900 Series rigs. The origin of the 1959 is unknown to me, but the 1969 is x-Rochester, NY and was refurbed to its photographed condition by Interstate Mack.

GA Dave, some guys wouldn't know a Century series from a 500 series, but thanks for trying to educate! BTW, the 59 ALF started with Bressler, PA., then went to Perdix,PA. and then to Summerdale.

I hear ya, Doc! I just can't help myself. I cringe every time I see stuff like that. Ya know, somebody ought to make up some "Spotter's Guides" for some of the major brands.......

This ride and the other one you posted ahead of it isn't a Century. This appears to be a 900 series.

The Century hasn't been made yet when these rigs were made! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Blink' />

Another fine example is this 1979 Century series from Foxboro, Mass. This powerful rig had a 1500 GPM pump, and a 500 gal. water with 20 gal. of foam.

That's not necessary. One of our Firepics family hosts three such guides on his website:

Not all types of American LaFrances are included in this site. I didn't peak at the others.
