Ladder 22's new rig is not in service yet. As a matter of fact, it hasn't been accepted by the city yet. If you stop by the firehouse all you will see is the spare ladder that they have been running with.

Ok thanks for the info

Ladder 22 is quartered with Engine 55, near Hunting Park Avenue and Luzerne Street. Not the greatest of neighborhoods, so be careful.

The firehouse of Engine 55 and Ladder 22 is located at Front & Luzerne Streets. Even with this minor correction in location, it's still not the greatest neighborhood to be wandering around.

THAT NEW LADDER FOR 22'S IS WORTH MORE MONEY THAN THE ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOOD IT PROTECTS.

One was in the North area and one was in the South area of Philly. I BELEIVE that both are still around and kept with HAZ MAT 1 as spares. Chemical 2 was photographed at the Old Engine 47's station with Deputy 1. It was running with Engine 60 until Haz Mat One was in service.

Chemical 1 & 2 were twin Ford C/ Saulsbury units with Purple K surpression systems.

Just a quick correction. Chemical 1 and Chemical 2 were part of the two Haz Mat Units that were in service at the time these rigs were purchased. In February 1978 three Hazardous Material Task Forces (HMTF) were organized, one for each Division. In 1982 these rigs were purchased and assigned to HMTF 1 and HMTF 3. In July 1984, during a budget crisis, one of the Division Chiefs was disbanded at was Haz Mat 2, along with several other units. At that time HMTF 3 was renumbered HMTF 2. During 1989 HMTF 2 was disbanded and both rigs were assigned to HMTF 1, which became known as Haz Mat 1.

I know that the name of this thread is "Some Older Philadelphia Fire Dept..." but I didn't think it was a good idea to start a new Philly thread. At any rate, here are some of the more recent deliveries to the department.
