On my way to visit a friend stationed at Annapolis after the Firehouse Expo, I made my way down MD Route 150 to visit this rig, which will probably the only one of its type I'll ever see. The guys at the station were very nice and pulled out both this and the Engine (pictured elsewhere) for shots.

Never seen a piece of fire apparatus with placards on it before....

Thanks for Jeff M. (via Doc. S) for the data.

Our air refiller trucks in Montreal have placards on them. I will try and get a photo. Great photos of an unique rig.

i work for baltimore county so i will try and explain the rigs purpose for you. when baltimore county took over fire protection from the bethlahem steel corp in 1987 we also adopted several rigs. one of which was a cardox unit that was on a gmc chassis. the purpose for this rig is for electrical type fires and other type fires where water can't be used to extinguish. the steel mill down here has very large generators that if they ignites we have to extinguish with CO2. in a senseit is a giant CO2 extinguisher. the rig has responded throughout baltimore county and city for big electrical fires at say like power stations etc. it is very impressive to see in operation. i will try and dig up the rig this replaced. hope this helps.

I rode with Baltimore County Engine Co. 03 back in February. They were explaining the history behind the Sparrows Point area. Inlcuding the actual land that Station 57 sits on and the "issues" with the whole area. Very interesting.

yes it was sparrows point was very interesting. in its hay day it was a very booming town. it had its own stores movie theaters banks etc. now there is nothing left. if you get a chance inside station 57 they have pictures of what the old town used to look like. it was big.

Ahh very cool...I've never did any flatbedding so I miss out on all the big steel plants. I hate taking that bridge out there too, it's way too expensive for us truckers, the traffic at the tunnel on I-95 is worth the $8 savings. I didn't even realize there was anything out there anymore, I think the closest I've been to there is shooting the patrol car at BCCC-Dundalk. Thanks for the info!
