History of the Atlanta Fire Dept.
A rendering of the New Station 18 which will be constructed at the present Oakview Rd site. This will require the temporary relocation of Engine 18 during construction. Rumor has it E18 will be sleeping at Station 12 on Dekalb Ave.

Lastly a picture of 106 Kirkwood Ave NE. This is a residence now. Apparently after the FD vacated it, it was turned into the Original Kirkwood Library. This building is considerably bigger than the Oakview Rd firehouse so why would Atlanta move E18 out of it? Anybody know the history of that?

Engine Company #18 in 1928. The other rumor (of many) is that #18 will be in a trailer/barn configuration like #36 is currently in.

We hide the wheels and call it a "Rehab Unit"... <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/lol.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol2:' /> ... Here is another view of the old station on Kirkwood, was used as a Library for a number of years...The house portrayed on an episode of HGTV several weeks ago talking about it's life as a library before being remodeled, but no talk of it's prior life as a Fire House...?????????

This shot is of the rear showing the depth of what would have been the apparatus bay.....very similar to some of other Atlanta Stations.

I don't think that the library building was a firehouse. It appears that the library was built after the firehouse was torn down.

You maybe right. I am doing a proprty appraisal search and it says that the current building was built in 1960. It looks older than that though. Kinda looks like Old Station 21 in Buckhead. On Wikipedia it says this:

Kirkwood was incorporated as an independent municipality in 1899. Governed beginning in 1899 by its own city council and mayor, the town boasted its own water system, school systems and fire department. ...............

and this ................

In 1922, Kirkwood residents voted for annexation into the city of Atlanta.

???? I am confused i guess on the original Station 18 location.

I've seen a better picture of the original station and it seems that it was a two story building with windows above the swing open doors. You can barely see the windows in the above post.

As far as I know, the only former fire stations that are still standing are:

#4 - Ellis St. Now a church

#6 - Boulevard and Auburn. Now a museum.

#11 - North Avenue. Now a restaurant / pub.

#16 - Marietta St. Currently vacant

#17 - RDA Blvd. Now a woman's shelter.

#21 - Recently dozed.

Can anyone think of any others? There was a single bay #32 in Sandy Springs, but I have not been able to find it.

Does anyone know where we can get a copy of the 1960 yearbook? The only one I've ever seen was at Station #29 and was in poor shape. I'm sure that there would be some great shots to scan in it.

1992 I need Black cover with the colorized Resurgens logo

I have:

1928

1975

1983

1992

2001

2007

Dave Miller had some, but he is pretty proud of them. He may have a 1975. I had an extra 1975 at one time, but I sold it. I have an extra 1983 that I'd be willing to sell, but this is not ebay so I won't go there...

Here you go Shoe. This was apart of the Contracted coverage with Sandy Springs.

This is Station 32 home to Engine 32, Ladder 32, Engine 33. Located at 135 Johnson Ferry Road in Sandy Springs. Atlanta FD covered this until Fulton County Fire came into existence. It was than Fulton County Fire Station 2 from somewhere around 1977 until 2006. Its presently the City of Sandy Springs Fire Department Station 2. ***That 1969 Seagrave TDA pictured is currently the parade piece that Fulton County uses and is kept at Fulton (Johns Creek) County Station 20.

This is a photo i snapped of the Seagrave TDA in the 2007 St. Paddy's Day parade. I think this is the same ladder that Atlanta FD used when they covered Sandy Springs. Who bought this TDA? Atlanta or Fulton County (to be used by AFD) ?

The single bay station on Lakewood Avenue is gone. The foundation and floor can still be seen
