I believe that was in service until the mid 1960's until replaced by an Oren service ladder truck. Joe would probably know for sure.

The Buffalo was replaced by either the 1967 Oren-Great Eastern quad that went to Co. #1 or the 1967 Oren-Great Eastern pumper that went to Co. #2. The question is which firehouse was the Buffalo assigned to. At the time the Buffalo's were in service until just after WWII there were 4 companies in the department. Companies 1, 2, & 3 were housed in what is currently the Co. #1 firehouse in the Midvale section of town while Co. #4 was housed in a long-gone building near the current Co. #2 firehouse in Haskell. There is a plaque in the Co. #1 firehouse that has the original builders plate off this rig, along with a color photograph of it, so I'm inclined to believe that the Oren-Great Eastern quad that went to Co. #1 replaced this Buffalo. Not long after WWII ended the department was restructured from 4 companies to 2. Companies 1, 2, & 3 were consolidated into Company #1 and Company #4 became Company #2. Company membership was determined by your residence location. If you were north of the Wanaque River bridge you were in Co. #1, south of the bridge and you were in Co. #2. It's still that way today. By the way, I'm assuming that's a factory photo? I've never seen it before. The only other 2 known photos of this truck are the color shot we have and the b&w photo in the 1929 chapter of Walt McCall's American Fire Engines From 1900. Frank B, thanks for posting it!! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yourock.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
