On your trip out to McKean County, you didn't by chance get to Kane did you? They have a beautiful refurb mid-mount ladder out there that was definitely a surprise when I visited a few years ago.

The tanker from Austin has a long history. Origianally purchased by East Whiteland (Chester County) I remember driving over small trees with this one night (I was the officer) during a woods fire in Malvern.



1975 Mack R/Allied - a need was seen to replace the original tanker chassis. The company looked around and found a

used Mack R chassis for sale in a front yard in Cochranville. It was purchased for $21,000 in 1982-83. The chassis was originally a tractor. The fifth wheel was removed and the frame extended and the tank mounted on it by a friend of Bill Edwards over in New Jersey for $600. Additional piping was done at this time for $350. It has a 237HP Maxidyne engine with a 6-speed transmission. It was housed 8/22/92. It was sold to the Pomeroy Fire Company (Chester County) in November of 1993 for $20,000. Pomeroy added a 12' dump valve in the rear and repainted it RW. Pomeroy sold it in 7/98 to Mountville (Lancaster County) for $23,000. Mountville repainted in LY. They donated it to Austin (Potter County) in 07/04.

I am not sure that he has stood on any pipe to take photos, but I do know a secret about his extending legs if that is odd enough for you?







Thing is he won't extend them until your in front of him taking your photos, so no one sees him.



By the way, usually the secret key is under the front door mat, why didn't you look there like I did. The group of Odd Fellows has discussed it and with the evidence submitted by Odd Fellow Darin we are happy to announce that you will be accepted into the International Association of Odd Fellows as an Odd Fellow of the Junior Level. If you work hard and strive for it.. you may reach the regarded level of Odd Fellow of the Strange Level (like Darin and myself have). If you really work hard and put alot of time, effort and though you might even reach the esteamed level of Gro (Odd Fellow of the Gro Level). Being unable to start a Freightliner/Pierce pumper because there is no key is a good start on your path!!

Here is the the info I have on the three rigs from Brickerville:



1947 International KB5/General, full cab, 500/300, light duty chassis. Company never got rid of it. Has centrifugal pump.



1994 Freightliner/Emergency One, 4-door, 1500/1000, purchased through Glick Fire Equipment-Smokestown, housed 6/21/97.



2004 American LaFrance Eagle, 4-door eight man cab, 1500/750/50, Detroit Series 60, 500HP, Hale FoamPro 2002 foam system, 10KW Harrison hydraulic generator, high side compartments both sides, rescue-pumper. Received 11/20/04. Purchased from MidAtlantic American LaFrance.



Can't wait to see more from the group.

Friday was the day to meet fellow firepix members, ifightfire is a member of the Akron Fire Department here in Lancaster County. He met up with us on Friday at the Ephrata Fire Department, after pulling out thier tower he took us over to his firehouse and proceeded to pull everything out for our group.

Info on the Schoeneck squad:



2006 F550 Crew Cab/Reading Classic II, 4x4, diesel with coffin-style compartments added. This brings the body to just above cab height, same profile as the Ultimate body, but w/low-side height doors. Has a 3.5 or 3.8 KW Honda generator, electric start on a slide tray, and 2 telescoping lights on the front of the body. Has some hose trays on it (under one of the coffins, one cantilevered from the inside/top of the cargo area), but no indication it will have a pump/tank. MX7000 bar & body strobes. Ramsey receiver mount winch w/front mount & power at the rear hitch receiver.



It looks like Shoeneck got a new station - where is it located at ?



When you were at Witmer - by any chance did you get a shot of their squad ?

Schoeneck built a beautiful new station about two blocks from there old station. It was built on their "fairgrounds". The back of the station backs up to the turnpike. I believe they had the open house and dedication two weeks ago. Interesting tid bit they sold there current station with it only being on the market a very short time (I thik less then two weeks) to a local church.

Glad you are enjoying the pictures, as Jared said.. Schoeneck did indeed build a new station. It is very nice and should serve them for many, many years. Plus there is a huge parking lot for shooting apparatus so that makes it even better!! Sadly <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banghead.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I didn't shoot the squad at Witmer... I got talking with thier Asst. Chief and didn't snap up in time to photograph it. It looks like Andrew2430 has started posting his pictures... so keep your eyes peeled on his thread. I was by East Brandywine the other week and noticed that the siren has been taken down and is sitting behind your firehouse... what is up with it? Will it be going back up?

The siren is done for good. Good pager reception - community pressure - township building reconstruction where it was sitting - doomed it.

That mack tanker is also ex Pomeroy, PA and ex East Whiteland, PA.



It was originally a White cabover fuel oil delivery truck that was donated by Sun Oil to East Whiteland, and repowered by the members there (my dad and I did much of the work).



Glad to see it still serving after all these years.
