I got together with EMS 12 and Dave Bowen (whose account has sadly not be activated yet) and we photographed one of my favorite counties. That county would be Schuylkill County in the coal region of Pa. Hopefully you enjoy these pictures, I won't post them all but I will post some of my favorites.

This was easily my favorite stop of the trip, I had tried for many years to get Phoenix Park and never succeeded. I have always loved their tanker and was so excited to finally get to photograph it!

David, nice pictures! How'd you ever get those trucks posed so well! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> Twas great to meet you last week. We never would have had such success without your help. Maybe by next trip though, you and the good Lord will have gotten right and you'll do a bit better in the weather department. It was a great trip and we all really appreciated your help. Drop down by my part of the country one day and I'll pay back the favor.

Mark,

The lord and I missed our connection on the weather.. I guess I didn't submit my request early enough or something.. Who knows LOL. It was a great time and I thank you for coming up to photograph and allowing me to show you around. If you come back up I will have more stuff of color for you to shoot!! My goal is to one day come down to Florida, when and if that happens I will definitely look you up!

Sunday was another good day, I got together with Bill Stehman, Dave Bowen and I finally got to meet Warren "Dr. Stinebaugh" Jenkins. We decided to do the airport and than go into Chester County... well no one was around at the airport (which strikes me as both odd and very irritating).. so we started our day offically in Avondale, Chester County,Pa. I have been trying for years to get Avondale and have never suceeded... well this time I/we wouldn't be denied!!

Indeed they are!! What a fabulous building it is too! We got the full grand tour while we waited for a driver to come down, plus this time they actually pulled everything out and didn't give me/us any excuses (as they have the last 4 times I have been there). It is a nice hall for sure and one worth checking out!

Dave,

I'm sure the guys at Avondale told you the history on their pumper-tanker. If not, here it is:

1992 Mack MC/4-Guys, 4-door, 1250/2000, stainless steel elliptical tank, tandem axle shuttle truck, 3 KW generator. It

was housed on 5/30/92 at a cost of $179,000. This was the first 4-door unit ordered by the company. It was housed at the New Garden Twp. Building since there was not enough room in the firehouse. On 8/28/2000 around 8 o’clock in the evening, the twp. building caught fire. The fire captain got into the bay, and drove the rig right through the garage door to save it. Some heat damage on top and to the paint. Sent back to 4-Guys for repairs. Damages were only $5,000 for materials, and $10,000 for labor. Placed back into service on 11/19. On 4/16/05 it was sent back to 4-Guys to have the elliptical tank removed and replaced with a cabinet style body with a 1500 gallon tank – converted to a pumper-tanker. The cab was also repainted and the generator was replaced with a 10KW Kubota diesel generator. It was received back on 7/22/05, placed back into service on 7/30/05. The old tank was sold to Hillbilly Fire Apparatus who was going to have 4-Guys mount it on a Mack chassis.

One of the last stops for the day was Brookhaven in Delware County, Pa... almost all of thier apparatus had bodies built by companies that are pretty foriegn to me. I have heard of both M & W and EEI but I have rarely seen apparatus by them in Pa (Broomall has 2 M & W's).

It is funny, Reamstown is only 6 miles from Ephrata were you stayed... I couldn't set anyone up there when I tried or we would have done them as well. LOL E-town is really easy, that station has a live-in program and thus there is always people around... my orignal plan for Sunday (the Sunday that you got was revision number 12 LOL) called for us to go to E-town. They are a basically all Sutphen company (only the tower and squad are not Sutphens)... they just took delivery of thier new engine:

If you go there you can see a front shot of the new engine... not sure why they didn't put it up on the page offically though?
