Ambulances
Providence ran this old military ambulance as the "Snow Rescue"(ambulance) in the late 70's, and also as a reserve, until they had to transport the mayor's mother in it one night. The next day, it was put OOS permanently.

Sorry John, but that is not a former military rig (at least not as an ambulance). The Army (I can't speak for the other services usage and nomenclature) uses the M997A1 (I Think) variant of the HMMWV series. We refer to it as an "F.L.A.", not to sure what that means. They usually look a lot like this example:

I hope I didn't come off too turd-like.

Kyle, you are showing your youth. The Providence rig is an old military ambo like Vietnam era. It is an old school military ambo.

What Providence rig? I thought you had commented on the Avalon, NJ EMS hummer contraption. That was the rig I commented on. Sorry about that.

Paint it gray and it would look even more Manatee-ish! All kidding aside, it's a good looking unit.

Haha! Yes, they are pretty big trucks. Although I think the new Miami-Dade MedTecs take the cake in "gigantic ambulances."

Mad Max to the rescue! Thanks for posting the Aussie rigs, it's nice to see totally different types of units on chassis that you don't usually get to see.
