John- It would have been a BIG help if you had just gotten the production numbers off the rigs. Mack databases exist that would have been able to identify the original owners of both rigs, based on those numbers. There is a silver tag below the main intake on each pump. Dave, that assumes I know where the main intake is. Thatis why I shot the pump panel

It's under the BIG suction intake, with the reducer on it. I saw the plate, but obviously cant read it

On the closeup of the Mack L, the first word appears to be "Lake" and the second ends in an "s". I know nothing about the area, so I can't offer suggestions. Maybe someone can take it from here...

The MAck 'L''s a '52, the B's a '55, they weren't originally owned by L.O.W though...they were purchased in the early 70s, their website doesn't specify where they came form.



These two rigs weren't even LOWs original rigs...their first rig is only listed as a '32 year old truck that had been rebuilt' with no further details given.

Continuing along US-50, we came across this truck in Martin County. It's parked alongside a building between Shoals and Loogootee. The only tag I could find on it was a "Chubb Pathfinder" badge. Does anyone have any information they can add about this truck?

I know the Port Authority of NY/NJ used them for many years at the airports here. IIRC, some others used them, but cant recall who.



They are British made, so not a popular rig here.

According to the elusive Frank Wegloski, this was a x- Port Authority of NY -Newark Airport piece. The Martin Co.,IND. Fire/Rescue somehow obtained the 1980 Chubb "Pathfinder" 2300/3600 rig to serve as a tanker and was still using it as late as 2003. You have to wonder about its road worthiness, since Martin County, Indiana is very rural, with hilly terrain...

Thanks for the information. It doesn't appear to be the most nimble of trucks for the area it's in. It makes you wonder why they chose to use it in the application they did. This International/American isn't quite a relic, it belongs to a collector. It's located just off of US-31 in Crothersville, Indiana. The front-mount pump is in the hose bed.

Boston's Logan International Airport once owned one. I don't know if they still have it, or if it was disposed of.
