Question for the "war year" guys. Didnt FDNY run a couple of Mack's with squrts on them? Engine 310 and another one. One of them was turned in to a foam unit. I dont know what happened to the other one??

Rich, according to the Wheels of the Bravest, the FDNY took delivery of two 54' Squrt equipped Mack CF's in 1970. A photo in the book shows one numbered for E71. One of the two had the boom replaced with a Telesqurt boom and was assigned to E70 on City Island in 1976, and there's a shot of that one as well. The book also records that the other Squrt unit was placed in "inactive storage" for several years and then was converted by the Shops to be a foam unit in 1980. Also reading through the information, there was a recommendation to equip all Squad companies with Squrts, but it never came to pass. Hope that helps somewhat.

About 10 years ago, more or less, I had the opportunity to purchase the Mack that had the Squrt still on it. It was located at Northern Fire Equipment in Watertown, NY at the time. However, I chose not to sell my then current piece, so I did not purchase the Mack. I have no idea where it may have ended up after that, just 1 more piece of the puzzle. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/shrug.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Shrug' /> TJ

Wall Fire Dept. in Allegheny County, PA. owned a Mack CF Squirt which was E70 in FDNY. They sold it just a few years ago. I'm not sure where it ended up.

It was the telesquirt, a 1970 that Wall purchased. It had the squared off CF canopy cab that was on the Mack aerialscopes. Wall donated the telesquirt to Lytle, Texas on March 15, 2004.
