Are these 2 separate stations built next door to each other?
Yes, they were 2 separate firehouse that were built 13 years apart. Engine 73 side was built in 1900, and Ladder 42's side was built in 1913. The only place that they could cross over to the other side of the firehouse used to be in the Housewatch area. In 2001 both firehouses were rehabbed, and 2 more holes were put in the dividing wall, one in the kitchen and another on the apparatus floor. The firehouse was rededicated on Sept. 10th, 2001. Father Mychal Judge performed the ceremony. He died the next day at the Trade Center.
As far as architecture goes, this is my most favorite firehouse in NYC. Plus there's a great group of guys that work there.
The only MARC in 46 ENGINE!

Actually they started renovations this year, how do I know? Because that's when our already small response area got even smaller when they relocated L-128 to E-238/L-106's quarters. GIVE US BACK OUR BOXES AND STAY IN QUEENS 128 <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/machinegun.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
