Ok, so you guys have posted some pretty cool tow trucks but this one's got them all beat. Kauff's Towing in South Florida has this new Kenworth heavy duty wrecker. Yes, I know it's shadowy but it's all I could get.

Any idea where this unit is based out of? The company's website says they have several locations on both coasts. Thanks!

Does anyone know who the company is (I think they are in New York State somewhere) that bought the old FDNY MC Mack/Saulsbury Recue 1 (FDNY Shop #MR8501) and is now (or was, anyways) using it as their "Response Unit" (chains, slings, air bags, etc etc etc) ???????? Any Pix????

I think it may be Stiloski's, in Westchester County.

JLG, I don't have any idea but I've only seen it around here twice. Kauff's used to be based in West Palm Beach but sold out to Road One a few years ago. I'm not sure if they're still locally based or what. When I was a kid, Kauff's had a similar looking rig on an Autocar concrete truck chassis. It too had two front axles. Kauff's was always "the show" truck company - had murals on the trucks and such.

Rick's Towing, Guilford, NH uses this 1966 Oshkosh Model D3466. One of 22 such models built for concrete mixers. On the back is a 70 ton Pettibone crane. Not your standard wrecker, but an intersting animal just the same.

Plunske's Garage, Wallingford, CT purchased this truck from George Logan Towing in New Jersey in 2005. It was orginally a 1960 Oshkosh United States Navy crash crane. Logan rebuilt it in 1990 with a Mack DMM cab. The business end is still the original Silent Hoist Q40 boom. Again, not your run of the mill wrecker, but still falls into the category for this thread.
