My FD's Seagrave Tower Ladder has a light that shines where the side plates should be put. Maybe someday a laser pointer will be used?!

If you mean this one, then your informer is tragically WRONG!

Bethesda bought this new in 1977, it was rehabed twice in 1993-1994, last seen 2 years ago on Maryland's eastern shore. I'm sure Bruce Anderson or Al Powell would have correct info for Bryn Mawr, and most of their old rigs have stayed in PA.

Their '68 Seagrave ladder with the open cab was sold to Nesquehoning, PA but their next one, a '78 closed cab model, went where?

My bad. I purchased 2 photos at that time, one of the Bethesda rig and one of an almost identical rig that was from Accoceek. He may have told me that the Accoceek rig was Bryn Mawr's '78 Seagrave. Looking at both rigs you can understand how easy it is to get them mixed up.

The Accokeek Seagrave didn't come from Bryn Mawr either. I don't recall the FD they git it from, but it was numbered 24 there too, maybe Emigsville???

Accokeek's ladder came from Emigsville Fire Co. in Manchester Twp. York County, PA. I'm not sure where it may have been before emigsville.



Bryn Mawr's Seagrave Aerial was an open cab, and was just recently retired from the Nesquehoning FD in Carbon County, PA. It was still yellow over green when retired.

You're absolutely right about the 1968 open-cab Seagrave; I have photos of it right after Nesquehoning retired it. But Bryn Mawr replaces every rig after only 10 years or so of service. The bought a closed cab Seagrave ladder in 1978 and replaced it with a Hahn in 1988 which was sold to Trappe, PA.

With reference to the 1978 Seagrave 100' rearmount from Bryn Mawr, we were all partially correct and all partially incorrect. After a phone call to Dan Decher, which resulted in phone calls to George Benigno and Bruce Anderson, with additional info coming from Al Powell, I finally found out the correct info:



Bryn Mawr sold it to Emigsville in 1985 who, in turn, sold it to Accokeek in the late 1990's. Accokeek replaced it with a Sutphen tower in 2002.

After it was totalled in an accident.........

The Seagrave from Emigsville ran at Paxtonia Fire Co., Dauphin County, PA. before going to PG 24. Chief Shoemaker from Paxtonia delivered it to PG. Was in Paxtonia's station many times while it was there.
