I have no info on that little Chevy air truck. When I moved down here, the 1983 Ford F-800/Harless was already in service.



T-2 ran the SeaPirsch TDA after the Seagrave midmount. It was in service when I got here in '85 and stayed there until the new Spartan/LTI arrived in '91.

The Chevy was still running as "Car #810 pick-up" when I came in '91. The "pick-up" is used for day to day air and oxygen deliveries. I've seen the new one at the shop, but have not gotten a shot of it yet. It is certainly not what you would think of as a "pick-up". I did notice that the chevron striping on the rear is up-side down.

The Ford was running as "Car #810 Van" (???) That Ford was actually a Parks and Rec. truck that was refurbed into an air unit. It still had the green paint under the hood.

The Chevy was replaced in about '92 with the Ford Super-Duty with the diamond plate body. That is what is currently getting replaced.

Truck #1 also had a SeaPirsch.

Anybody know if AFD has taken delivery of the 2 Mobile Command units? If so where are they going to be stationed?

Are there plans for a new #13, somewhere in the same area? also what happen to old #12? I understand it had to make way for I-20 or was that old #10?

New Sta.13 is planned for a lot across the street from the current station,they started clearing the lot last year,but work looked like it came to a halt last summer.



Also in the works were for a new Sta.18 it was to be built on the site of the current sta. 18 with the crew being relocated during the construction.



Sta.11 is planned in the Atlantic Station development off I-75/85 and 17th St.



With the current financial state of the city after finding they are somewhere between 70 -100 million short in there budget.Who knows when the new stations will be completed.

Looking west down Bryan St. at Oakland Ave. Fire Sta.10 sat once sat just south of the wall on the west side.The area now is part of I-20,yes due to construction right of way for I-20 this historic old station was lost.....as well as a few others near interstates.Here is a photo of the old location.

This is old Station 10 built around 1905. It was located at 155 Oakland Avenue with a cross of Bryant St. Razed for i-20.

Again, nice thread to all who have contributed. I hope Atlanta returns to having their muster. Just curious where are the above photos taken? I know it use to be near the rail yard and was wondering if that's where the above shots were taken. I started going when it was moved to Phipps Plaza. It's a nice location, but it's kind of hidden off the main drag. Such a nice tradition and I would hate to see it just disappear. Hopefully it'll return this July.

I am not sure where these were taken as my Captain took them. I know the Metropolitan Fire Association used to organize them and that Atlanta Fire Department took over organizing them. Last year they stated they didn't hold one due to hosting Fire Rescue International and all the effort being put into that. I hope there is one. Fire Musters help keep the spirit and tradition of the Fire Service and buffing alive. I know Roswell puts one on as well. We can only hope.

Not exactly true. The MFA was never the primary organizer of the Atlanta Muster, it was always the AFD, assisted by the MFA.



Those muster photos were taken at the Atlanta Area Tech school on Stewart Ave. Both the school and road have changed names since. As far as I know, there will be a 2008 AFD Muster on the last Saturday in July.

28 is also on the drawing board for Riverside as well. Every time we complain about the dreadful conditions of the current stations, they come back with the line... But, we're opening 4 new stations by the end of the year. They just never say which year they are talking about...

It appears that Atlanta took delivery of an ALF in June of 1956. I'm thinking that it would have been a 700 series but, the numbers below don't make sense to me. Could it have been the 900 Series at 14's?

I don't have a photo of it, but I believe there may be photos of it in one of the Atlanta Fire Department Yearbooks. It was a 1956 ALF 700 series 75-footer, Serial #N-110 and was assigned to Truck 11 and later to Truck 23. I can check at the Fire Museum here tomorrow. We have two old AFD photo yearbooks and I'll check to see if there is a photo of it in one of those that I can scan. The books have photos of every station, the firefighters assigned there, and usually a photo of the apparatus in front of the station.

"Big Red" Originally assigned to Ladder 8 when it was on Carnegie Way downtown, where the Peachtree Plaza--Westin is now.

Sweetest sounding fire truck I have heard in 54 years on this earth. It was at L-23 when I lived in Atlanta, and it made every major fire in the city, or at least transferred to 11 (check old "HOt News"). Ask Capt. Gish and Dave Williams, I am sure they will concur.



I have pictures and slide, so I can't be of much help with a posting. Would love to see some shots of it
