212 was one of the Brooklyn firehouses that the SCUMBAG MAYOR Bloomburg shut down, when he closed SIX houses back in 2002. I cant remember the name of the truck captain, but he and the rest of the guys from this house had by far the best hospitality of any firehouse i have ever been to. my buddy and i were down taking the FDNY exam in jan of 07 and we were on our way to see a buddy at sq 61 when we saw this house and decided to stop because it was actually 2 houses made into one. we only intended on staying a few minutes and we were there for two hrs. so if any of the guys from this house reads this thread...THANKS!

Rescues & Squads are listed where they are physically located, they are assigned to Special Operations Command. Engine 15 moved in with Ladder 18 in Division 1 & Ladder 39 moved in with Engine 63 in Division 7 in June 2006.

Last I heard plans were a go to build a new firehouse adjacent to Engine 201's quarters at 5113-5117 Fourth Ave in Brooklyn. E201 is located at 5113 Fourth Ave and TL114 is at 5209 Fifth Ave. Engine 201 would be relocated, their house torn down and the new house built on the lot and the vacant lot to the right of the firehouse. Battalion 40 would also be located at this new house. Perhaps one of the Brooklyn guys floating around could offer any updates as it concerns construction etc...

Here's a shot I took in the early 1970's. Completed in 1960, I don't know of a similar style house anywhere in the City. Anyone know of a house even close in style to this one, in FDNY?

thats a one of a kind. since the walker house era was completed, there have been no two houses built that have been the same.

Thanks for the info FDNY. That hose tower, (if it is all hose tower) is huge.
Here is a shot I took, probably in 1970, of the then quarters of E 207, L 110 and the 31 Battalion at 365 Jay Street, the former headquarters of the Brooklyn Fire Department. A sign in the stonework above the entrance spelled out HOOK AND LADDER 68. In 1913 L 68 was reorganized as L118 when FDNY needed to renumber all Brooklyn companies to conform with a city wide plan. To end the confusion with like numbered companies in other boroughs they added 50 to all of the ladders and 100 to all of the engine companies.
In this present photo, if you look closely, it looks like there are some unusual letters (RESC) visible in the stonework to the left of the sign. By the way Rescue 2 was quartered here from 1929 to 1946, E 207, L 110 and the Battalion moved on to Tillery Street in 1971 with the Super Pumper. The house was sold and a commercial business moved in. I don’t know what year the building was constructed or have any historic info for the site during the BFD era. Maybe somebody out there can add some incite.
