Many companies with the older open cab Seagraves still have a mount for the packs on the rear like E210

FDNY Eng 9 has a neat way of saving energy while getting the hose to the fire.

Thanks, that's neat. Maybe someday someone will catch them deploying it. A lot of our brothers abroad have the demountable hose reels on the back of their apparatus.

Its probably easier for the hydrant man to pickup his pack when he comes from hooking up to the hydrant.

The FDNY photo reminded me of this setup used by Broward Sheriff's Office Engine 36, serving Lauderdale-By-The-Sea which is filled with high rises. This little cart allows one member of the crew to get three high-rise packs up to at least two floors below, so the rest of the crew can carry tools, etc.

Hey WAGONMAN, as far as I could tell it is the same for all engines. I had a chance to see engins 1, 2 and 3 and they all looked the same. I don't know if their outlying stations have anything different but I hope to be out grabing some pics soon so i'll check it out.

Nope. The former Broward County Fire Rescue was merged under the sheriff's office a couple of years ago. It was to save costs by eliminating administrative and logistical positions and costs. The fire union liked it because they got a nice raise and benefits boost. The fire chief now just reports to the sheriff instead of the county commission. Cops are still cops, firefighters are still firefighters...only wearing different patches and riding apparatus with different lettering. Some people don't even know of the change...all they know is when they dial 911, a big red fire truck shows up.
