This is the old burn building at the Training Center with Engine 96, 97, and 98. The burn building still stands, however I am not sure what the future plans are for this structure.

The "newest" addition to the Training Center engine company fleet is Engine 94, which is a 1985 Hahn 92 that was rehabed in 1999 by LSI of Purcellville, Virginia (also in Loudoun County). This Hahn was originally painted white and yellow and saw service at the Stonewall Jackson VFD located just outside of Manassas, Virginia. Round Hill VFD (Station 4 in Loudoun County) purchased the Hahn from Stonewall Jackson and had it rehabed by LSI. Part of that rehab included the red and white paint.



Round Hill donated the Hahn to the Training Center in 2006, where it now serves as Engine 94. I am not real sure why there is no Engine 95 in the Training Center roster; just Engines 94, 96, 97, and 98. Again, there will be a variety of changes once the two new Pierce engines and Pierce ladder truck arrive.

And the new storage area for the apparatus - a large "tent" garage that houses all four engines.

Also housed at the Training Center is Loudoun County's MAB - or Medical Ambulance Bus.



The MAB is one of seven medical buses delivered to Washington D.C. metropolitan fire departments under a USAI grant. Montgomery County, Maryland received two, and one was delivered in Prince George's County, Maryland, Washington D.C., Arlington, Virginia, Fairfax County, Virginia, and Loudoun County.



They are 2007 Thomas Built Bus with the interior outfitted by Sartin Services.



For now, Loudoun's MAB is housed at the Training Center. Plans call for the MAB to be stationed in the field, with the exact station not yet determined.

Here is a quick interior shot of the MAB.



Features include a 12.5 KW generator, and 8 large O2 bottles piped to 20 stretchers.



Kind of reminds me of the MASH bus in the popular TV show.

Loudoun County has recently taken delivery of three new Pierce Dash engines. They will be assigned to Station 4 in Round Hill, Station 10 in Lucketts, and Station 16 in Neersville.



Two of the engines are at the local Pierce dealer (Singer) still getting some work done on them. Engine 610 for Lucketts was at the Training Center this morning having the pump tested. Engine 610 was spraying the burn building with water and some foam. The plans are to have final work done on the engine next week and delivered to Lucketts for crew training.



Engine 610 is a 2008 Pierce Dash 1500/750/50 and carries Pierce job number 19355-02.

A unique feature is a small "strip" warning light located on the bottom of the front bumper.

A quick and somewhat unscheduled stop at the Loudoun County Volunteer Rescue Squad allowed me to photograph Squad 13 (thank you Tech. Smith and Lt. Snowden). I originally photographed this rescue not long after it was first delivered back in 1992.



Squad 13 is a 1992 E\-One Cyclone TC with serial number 9759.



Squad 13 will be replaced in the near future, and although I don't believe a contract has been officially signed yet, let's just say that Pierce has been the new fire truck manufacturer of choice for Loudoun purchases recently. The Loudoun County government will purchase the new squad. As a result, the plans for the 1992 E- One is to have that squad become a county reserve.

The new Seagrave deliveries at Leesburg has generated a good amount of interest amoungst fire apparatus enthusiasts. Leesburg ordered two new Seagrave engines and a Seagrave ladder truck. They also went with the black over red paint with these deliveries. These are some nice trucks!!



My plans have been to get group shots of the three new ones, but that has been a real challenge for different reasons.



I posted Leesburg's Wagon 601 earlier - photographed at a recent room and contents fire in Leesburg where it had the role of water supply. Wagon 601 was not in Leesburg today but has some additional work being done on the engine.



I did manage to be able to photograph Engine 601 today, which is a 2007 Seagrave TB70KK 2000/750/50/30. It carries serial number 78E49.



Each of the three new Seagrave's is dedicated to a person or group - Engine 601 is "Dedicated To Those Who Serve".

I also had the opportunity to ride and get photographs of Leesburg's new Truck 1, a 2007 Seagrave TT05KK 100' tiller. Seagrave has assigned it serial number 76373. At 59 feet 6 inches, this is one long truck and we were challenged to find a good spot for photos.



Truck 1 also carries extrication equipment and can have six tools "hot" at one time. Very impressive....the departments are working out how the dispatching protocalls will all work with Truck 1 and Squad 13 in Leesburg.



Work still continues on Truck 1 and the FD hopes to have it in service very soon.



As some of you know, Leesburg also has a 1988 Seagrave 100' tiller (ex -Richmond, VA and Washington D.C.) that the department purchased for training in preperation for the new Seagrave delivery. It sounds like the 1988 Seagrave will be sold soon.

The one thing I love about the new deliveries at Leesburg is the historical emphasis that the department has recognized on the trucks. For example, Truck 601 is dedicated to Tom Donohoe, with his name on the side of the truck as well as the bell on the front bumper. Wagon 1 was dedicated to Hubert Welch, with his name on the truck as well as the bell. And I already mentioned that Engine 601 is dedicated to all members.



This is also found on Truck 601.....

This is almost there....Leesburg's three ladder trucks taken last October late afternoon after their open house. All three are still at Leesburg, with the E\-One rearmount the first out truck right now.
