Here is our dept's '74 Ward Lafrance.It came to us from up north somewhere.Detroit 2stroke engine,5 speed man trans.Still runs like a scalded dog but needs a pump rebuild.We used it as second out till about 2 months ago when the pump packing gave out and it started leaking,now its for sale.We used to have a Ward top mount we gave to another dept 2 years ago I will try to get to it since I havnt seen a pic of one like it yet.This one's plate has 80-938.Another plate next to it has Q-16-10.5 36235.This one is 1250 pump,500 or 750 water cant remember which.

Well here's some more Ultravision's,this time from LINY. The Manowtasquott Engine Co. of Blue Point NY had this 1980 1250/50.

This 1965, 85ft Hi Ranger served Hook & Ladder Co. of Mineola NY until 1991. In Long Island apparatus years, that's nearly forever!

One of my favorite rigs. It's not a Mack, but it's a beautiful white rig. Patriot Hose Co.4 of Freeport NY had this 1972 1250/500 for many years. can anyone tell me what replaced it, and are they still white?

Here's Point Lookout-Lido's 1975 1500/500 serving as a reserve engine. It was Action Engine Co's frontline engine until 1989.

This 1972 1250/500 served at Engine & Hose Co.4 of Glen Cove NY. It was frontline until at least 1994, w/ a 1960 Maxim F as the 2nd out pumper.

This is a really crappy pic, but here it is anyway. Union Engine Co.2 of Hempstead NY had this 1971 1250/500 in service for 21 years, before replacing it w/ an E1 Hush. Last one for today.

GaDave, U Da Man, our fire truck club's Ward LaFrance is 80-1454. GOOD CALL. So you think this truck in '77 was white with lime yellow?

I would say yes, as that was what Rochester was running in the '70's. In the early 1980's they began using the "Quint-Midi" system, and changed to white/red paint. I did make one error, the pump should be a 1250, not a 1500.

Our depts other ward that was in pic in the alabama section you asked about was spec #80-1253.Tried to get a pic today but the ff with it wasnt very friendly,Ill try to get one later.It was a top mount auto trans cant remember more than that.

I can't recall the Maker,but it had "Floodlights" mounted underneath and Extended to supply Scene lighting.

It was called a "Stem-Lite" and I think it was a product of Super Vac. It raised up several feet above the rig and provided floodlights for the scene, as mentioned, plus the revolving red lights put a warning light above all the other lights.

Dave, I talked to my dad who was fleet maintenance Chief for Orange County Fire Rescue from 1982-2001. He told me that WLF# 80-224, Goldenrod-Dommerich Fire Dpet. bought Engine-64 in 1968, It was originally supose to go to Plantation but they cancelled there order right before delivery.Anyway here is a great shot

Those crash truck Wards are sharp looking,Ive never seen one till now.Any idea where those 2 spec numbers I posted are from?Im just curious as to where those 2 trucks started.

Ok, here goes:



80-938 is a former Orlando, FL rig, built as a 1250/500, but I'm not sure which company it was assigned to there. They had triplets delivered in 1974.



80-1253 was delivered to Menands, NY. So far, I haven't been able to gather any info about that one, except that it is a 1976.



The Dallas 1C ARFF rig was 80-02, a 1962 2000/3000/500F.



The Chemung County Statesman is 80-1272. The list I have shows no Statesman rigs after this one.



The Blue Point rig is 80-1665. It's listed as a 1980 model and was assembled at the Maxim factory.



Point Lookout-Lido, NY is 80-1211. They had an older one too, 80-834.



Glen Cove, East Meadow, and Hempstead........ I couldn't find any of them on the Model 80 list. After hours of trying to find info on the 'net and searching through my notes, I figured out they were

Model 85's! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> They are 85-45, 85-52, and 85-41, respectively. East Meadow's rig was later sold to 5 Mile Point FD in Kirkwood, NY.
