Quote:This CF from Delran is terrific--I like how the front valance or "grill" has been changed--distinctive. Was that a post delivery modification?

I don't think so, I've seen several CF's done this way over the years.

Mike,

My old town of Palmyra, NJ had a 3 Mack's all with the same grill as the Delran CF. One was a '71 MM ladder, another was a '75 Heavy Rescue, and the last was a '78 Engine.
The only MARC in 46 ENGINE!

Newark's Mack "C"s, eh? Well you just happen to be in luck because I will be posting those two rigs on my website in the "Newark Shops" feature over the next couple of weeks.

Come check them out at:

But, just to whet your appetite, here's a shot of the two rigs in front of Newark City Hall the day they went in service, which was July 6, 1961.

Thanks Marc and GA Dave. I have never seen a CF with the "smooth" grill....either had the chrome bars that ran across the front or the more typical grill....very interesting! I love this place--I learn something new everytime I come here.

Hank -

THANKS! I am a member of the Group already and LOVE the SHOPS section. You have many rigs that served NFD well over the years. Shame that not many are left or around at all.

The grill on Delran's Cf's was ordered that way. Delran mack pictured is a 1971. They also had a 1968, 1982 which now serves the New Waverly Ind. fire Dept, and a 1988 which is still in service.

That's it Greg..........Wow, brings back alot of memories seeing that rig!!! I drove it on a few rescue calls, she was a beast! Glad to see you guys put a Q on the bumper. That was one thing that truck never had. Are they planning on keeping it or selling it?

Here's the 1971 Mack Midmount ladder that Palmyra, NJ had till 1992. It was then sold to Lima, PA.

Thanx, guys.

And a tip o' the ol' leather to Phil on his "plug" for my site <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/fireman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Fireman' />

The runs I made riding 12 Engine's Mack "C" were countless. Went to lots of big fires riding the backstep of that rig.

Here's a shot of a three-alarm fire that destroyed an Acme Supermarket, at Clinton Avenue and Lincoln Park, on July 18, 1971. I was a Captain in the Reserve then and I was on top of 12 Engine's Mack "C" telling two of my crew to go out and stretch in another feed for 12 Engine.

Man this thing looked a whole lot better once they put the lightbar onto the roof. They had to mount it like that in the old firehouse cause the doors wernt high enough.

Tried Quoteing the post about the Pennington Road 81 Pierce but failed to do it right.

Would be nice i the Q worked on a regular basis. It picks and chooses when it likes to work. But there has not been anything in the works to replace it. Since we got though, it has had a new transmission put into her. Doesnt help when a few of the people do not know how to drive stick..... I am one in that category!!!! But we have an idea if it does get replaced, it will be something alot smaller or a new rescue will be pruchased and the 1990 Internation/Marion at Station 6 will be reassigned to Rescue 11-3. But as all things go, time will tell.
