I did not realize that Chesterfield County, Virginia had any all volunteer houses until I came across the Enon VFD. When I looked into the bay windows, I was surprised to see the familiar yellow of Chesterfield.
The department is getting ready to take delivery of one of the new Pierce engines that Chesterfield has recently received in addition to a new Ford brush truck.
Here is what is on the roster today at Enon Station 6.
I was told that Brush 6 was/is a short timer at Enon. The station previously ran a Ford F brush truck that experienced mechanical problems. Instead of having the Ford fixed, Chesterfield took the skid mount out of the Ford and placed it into the bed of this Chevrolet. Enon members are expecting a new brush truck in the very near future.
I will add a couple of miscellaneous trucks I have found during my travels.
I was heading to a meeting in Fredricksburg and just had to stop and get a quick photo of Fredricksburg Ladder 1 sitting on the "ramp" after just being washed.
Back a couple of pages on this thread I posted a photo of an usual Ford C/Saulsbury rescue squad that is running at King William, Virginia. That squad previously ran from Hanover County Station 10 - Chickahominy.
Replacing the Ford C at Station 10 in Hanover County is the new Squad 10, a 2007 Spartan Advantage FF/Crimson with s/n 07010-02.

Let's not forget Company 13 (Philips) and Company 10 (Wagstaff), the other two all-volunteer stations in Chesterfield! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
E-6 (which was E-62 under the old numbering scheme) spent a very short time as E-13 (the volunteer rig at FS1) before it was sent to 6. It's spent a majority of it's life at 6.
Thanks for the wonderful photos as always!

Oops! Any idea where the Chevy for Brush 6 came from? Got me on that one. Get ready to revive the OBX thread. Weather very shaky, but looking for a couple more pics on the way home.

Jerry,
Sorry...no idea on Brush 6. The guys at the station said Chesterfield delivered the truck and a forklift was used to move the brush package from the old unit to the Chevy.

John,
Boat 6 is kept in a garage to the left of the station. The driver that helped out with the other apparatus was not able to move it out.

Are you referring to the Pierce HDR that Dale City purchased a couple of years ago?

As best I can tell from my Chesterfield roster, the brush truck at Enon Station 6 ran last as Brush 19. When taken out of service there, the skid unit was sold, but I was unsure what happened to the Chevy pickup. It originally ran as Brush 8 in Matoca. It ran at FS8 until they got the 1989 Chevrolet from FS12. It ran briefly as Brush 10 until the new Brush 10 was placed in service. Hope this helps. A shop number would confirm my conclusion. Maybe I can get one next time I'm out that way.
Its good to see Dale City's old Rescue still alive and kicking!! Not bad for a unit that was purchased to only be there for six months turns into 9 years. The rescue that replaced this unit is in the process of being replaced.
