Back in 1995, Chester Gap VFC, VA. had a 1979 IH S/Lesslies 400/2200, it was replaced a few years ago.

John,

Here is the truck Dr. Stiinebaugh wrote about. I took this photo on April 2, 1994. My records may not have been the best then, or I could not confirm a builder's plate because I had no make of Tanker 9. I did have a 250 GPM pump and 2200 gallons of water. Who knows, but here is the photo. I also have it as a 1979 model International.

Thanks Jerry, mine (and Dave Bowen's) photos look similar. When we were there in 95, they also had an x-Lake Jackson Duplex/Oren, a GMC 4X4/E1 from Coles Dist., and a Dodge brush truck. I do not know when Chester Gap originally got this tanker. In 1995, many VFC's in Warren and Rappahannock counties were running a wild assortment of used equipment.

That chief there is a crazy man I here, last fall he was looking to get a couple of 5 ton 6X6 old military cargo trucks incase of flooding or heavy snow so they could evac citzens or transport docs, nurses, cops, firefighters, ect anytime, anywhere, in any weather but he was told he was crazy and it never floods in Prince William County.

You can never tell with that department <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />[/quote]

Flooding in Pee Willy? Never!! Maybe he should add "getting across sink holes" to the list of reasons for a 6X6 or maybe find a surplus mobile bridge from the Army.

Maxim,

The Mack was a 1973 750/750 model, and it is gone. Sorry, I don't know where.

That would be a 1963, and was originally Bowley's Quarters, Baltimore Co., MD. (Thanx to Mike Sanders)

Ruckersville is in Greene County, Virginia located about 10-15 miles outside of Charlottesville - just off of Route 29. A lot of commercial shopping centers going up in this area which is going to challenge the volunteers at Ruckersville.

First up is Engine 22, a 1989 Pierce Lance 1250/750 with job number E5293.

I don't get to shoot many Mack CF aerialscopes, yet I have had two in two weeks (the other was Chatham).

Ruckersville received this Mack from Chesterfield County, Virginia.

Last from Ruckersville is their station.

The FD also has a 1960 Chevrolet/Oren that is in the process of getting restored and was not available for photographs. It is currently kept at the station and has no markings on it.

Heading south down Rt. 29 takes you into Albemarle County, which borders Charlottesville.

I made a quick stop into Albemarle Station 12 - Hollymeade. This is a fast growing area in this part of the county and a new station 12 opened up not to long ago. Prior to the FD running out of the station, an engine and medic unit ran from a hanger at the Charlottesville-Albemarle County airport (I posted photos of their crash trucks earlier in this thread). Station 12 is located just down the street from the airport.

Currently running from Station 12 is an engine and medic. I understand that future staffing calls for a ladder truck.

Engine 12 is a 2008 Pierce Dash 1500/750/60 with job number 19340.

The last stop of the day had me arriving in Lynchburg, Virginia. It was getting late afternoon and I was beginning to loose the sun. When my business meeting was over, I found Lynchburg Station 8 just down the street and stopped in.

Engine 8 usually runs an American LaFrance, which was out of service for the day. In addition, the station houses an older KME as a reserve engine, which was running front line at another station.

With the American LaFrance out of service, Engine 8's crew was using this 2005 Pierce Arrow XT 1500/750/30. I believe that this is the first XT in Virginia.

The crew told me the city keeps planning on selling this truck, but they keep finding a use for it.

That is it for this installment. Hope you enjoyed the photographs.
