1976 Seagrave

I purchased this 1976 Seagrave from a guy in CA that used it with production companies for film in TV shows, commercials, and motion pictures. I am going to use it with our IAFF affiliate (LOCAL 1784) for parades, charity events, members family functions, and PAC events.



Prior to being in CA, it was run by a Fire Dept. in PA. I will see if I can get the job or serial number tomorrow.



So far I have installed:



Federal Q

new FS model 14 rear beacons

replaced a 60" Whelen LED Freedom bar - avaailable on ebay (shameless plug) with a FS Twinsonic.

installed that era's Opticom emittor.

installed most of the lettering.



What I have left:



install "1784" numbers on rear doors and rear of pumper

convert front red Whelen lights from halogen to strobe (maybe)

remove or cover front Engine 2-2

install Seagrave bell that is currently getting rechromed

install flush mount Mars 888 in the nose

paint silver wheel trim rings black

find another section of hard suction - might be hard

find some 2 1/2" caps - will be easy



attached is a before/after pic so far. I will post more as I make progress.

Robert, you have a masterpiece. It looked good when you shot her first photo, but the latter photo, she stands even taller.

It served the Chinchilla Fire Dept. in Lackawanna County, PA. Up near the NY line. It was replaced in 2003 I believe with a Spartan/Crimson. I'm sure somebody can provide the specs. It was refurbed for sure.

This engine is a former Fairfax County, Virginia pumper model PB-23968 with serial number E-73407. Unknown who did the rebuild with the four door cab extension.

Tom I show it as PB-23068 E-73407.



Maybe my list has a typo on the PB number. The others is that same time from which FXCO had show PB-23068.

Yep John, it is a '75. Plate says October 1975. The guy that I got it from said it was a '76. What can you do?? lol

John: You are correct the model is PB-23068, bad typing on my part! The units as built by Seagrave had 500 gallon tanks originally. Sorry for the bad information.

Yes he does. If you notice, I am allowing him to keep this one on his site to be advertised for the same use film productions in our area. Maybe the next time you see it, you will see me driving it on TV!!

A hobby that is "self funding", that would be quite nice. Is there any film work going on in the Memphis area? Did some time in Millinton way back in 1991 for my navy aircraft electrical schooling.

There are/have been several movies filmed in Memphis in the last several years:



(3) John Grisham films - The Rainmaker, The Client, and The Firm



Hustle and Flow



There is currently a church based film called The Grace Card being filmed here. Same company that did Fire Proof.



Walk the Line



The People Vs Larry Flint



Great Balls of Fire



Forty Shades of Blue



Black Snake Moan



21 Grams



A Family Thing



Cast Away



These were all in Memphis.



A Time To Kill was filmed a couple hours away in MS and The Green Mile was filmed in Nashville. A quick internet search provided over 100 movies filmed in TN over the last 10 years.
