Light Truck 1, not sure on the year but I was told that the guys at the shop built this from scratch.

Sorry about some of the shots being obstructed

You know guys I have been trying to get them to start buying them with Q's for the last 13 years!!! For some reason they don't want to get them. There are 5 mechanical sirens on the entire job - one on each of the 3 Rescues, one on the high pressure truck, and one on my engine - that last one took alot of work to get!!!

All of the new stuff - engines, trucks, ambulances, and chief vehicles are coming in with either the EQ2-B or a Whelen electronic siren with a mechanical tone, but it isn't the same. IN fact, they sound pretty darn bad. Especially the Whelen version.

The manufacturer will be lettering the rigs. The pictures were just taken before that process was complete.

Hate to see this baby leave the fire service. I have seen it in operation many of times. Any plans for a new one or go with the tower lights on the other apparatus??

Yeah, the Whelen "faux Q" is terrible ....the good news is those sirens are also capable of the sexy powercall tone (whelens version), if they are the same sirens I saw in that new EMS buggy. Those sirens are called scan lock series, allowing you guys to set the tones up however you want.

Yeah, I suspect that radio repair will be busy with requests to get rid of the dying animal tone in exchange for some of the other ones. We'll see if they do it or not. If not, I suspect that a bunch of chiefs will NOT be using the siren very often or will have it set on yelp or one of the other tones.

It is really that bad!!
