This one also floated by Station 2 on Pax River. This one was a lot less noisey. Thanks. Take care, Scottie

Inside The afterburner of a Rockwell B1 Bomber.
Not a great photo, but its not everyday you see a B-52 flying over NYC. This flew up the Hudson River over the GWB, turned around over Yonkers, flew south and then turned around for another run north over the GWB. Hard to tell from the pic, but it was pretty low and very impressive to watch. Definitely made my trip to the park with the family more interesting....

Never understood the BUFF nickname... I think she is quite beautiful. And no doubt a welcomed site (when it is low enough to be seen) to thousands of ground troops over the years who have been in harms way and needed a little help from above!

BUFF Big Ugly Fat F@#$ (or Big Ugly Fat Fellow if your taking to your mother). I tend to doubt that is the official USAF approved nickname. It is big, never really thought of it as fat (now the C5 or the C17 might be fat), and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This might have been a B52 that was on static display on McGuire AFB's Air Show this past weekend. If I get time this weekend I will post some photos. The B52 at McGuire was based at Barksdale AFB.
Thanks for the info Brian. And Ted, you are right, it was a beautiful sight, especially over the George Washington Bridge and NYC. But it is only a beautiful sight if you are a friendly. I said to my wife as it was about to pass over our head, I can only imagine the fear the sight of that plane would cause if you were a foe.
