Battalion 46.
For those wondering Battalion 44 is the Battalion Chief in charge of the inamte hand crews and Battalion 46 is the Battalion Chief in charge of the paid handcrews and heavy equipment section.
Crew 12-2
Monrovia1, never knew there was a Batt 44 or 46 before. Do you know of the 4 designates the Air/Wildland section?

Crew 12-2[/quote] I saw Battalion 44 and some of the LA County inmate crews up at the Summit fire. It was pretty cool to see them along with Hotshot crews from all over. That was definitely a Handcrew and Type III Engine fire. It was tough to get the dozers into some of the areas that needed them.

Does LACOFD stand by at all copter landings or is this a wild land fire thing?

I believe so. Most of the time a copter comes in for landing they have apparatus standing by just in case.

Most of the time, they will dispatch an additional engine company to secure an LZ for a TC. That is for security of everyone on the ground and will advise the pilot of any dangers, such as wires and light standards in the area. Most of the time, they use a nearby school yard or park. hope that helps.
