Jimmy,
That was last year and cost me $45 for an hour. That was a discount because hes a flight instructor at the school there. I asked him recently about going up again and he said for an hour now its like $125 or $150 maybe. Ill ask him this weekend and get back to you. Ill tel you, its awesome, but for photographing, its not great. As you can see, I had to shoot through the windows because they didnt open very far on the sides. We took a plane up that had the wings mounted on the top instead of the underbelly, but there were supports for the wings coming from the underbelly that got in the way too. While I woud recommend it because it in a great experience, there are a few drawbacks.
I am flying out of Hanscom with a Woburn Firefighter who is a plane owner. We have flown several times in the past, and we landed sideways at Hanscom one day - luckily there was NO other traffic in the pattern and we made it a touch and go! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Last time we were flying, we could see a fire in the Hampton Beach area of NH, but we had a mission - I had a list of photos for clients - and we never made the fire. Kevin - do you fly out of Beverly or Hanscom? And yes you are correct about the wing struts and the non-opening windows, but you do the best with what you can. As long as you have a pilot that is good with directions - my guy is great - I can ask him pretty much to put us anywhere and he can do it - then you can compensate for the wings and struts etc. joe b
Joe,
My friend is a flight instructor out of Beverly Airport. He doesnt own his own plane so we went up in one that was available at the time in Beverly. The honest truth is that I hate flying, but after going up that time, I dont mind it much....its something I got used to after a couple minutes of holding on for dear life. Maybe if we got a couple people together, we could plan something either on your end or mine. Although these small planes dont have much room in them.
Recently got back from Las Vegas. Took a trip to the west rim of the Grand Canyon, what a beautiful sight to see. Here are a few of many shots I took.

Nowhere near as breathtaking as the above shots, but here's the spooky/charming house I was photographing when trainspotting the other night.
