Question about the Boston Trucks. I noticed that the ladders come off of both sides of the truck. What if anything is in the rear compartment under the turntable?

I think there are 28's , a 24' a "Baby Banger", "The Little Giant "on the sides.... 35's, pencil, roof ladders in the back.... maybe even a 45' or a 50'...

Sean would know better though...

On the rear we carry a 40' ground ladder, a 50' ground ladder, a 16' roof ladder and a 10' pencil, or folding, ladder. On either side of the compartment we carry 3 rakes of varying lengths.

I see this former Boston FD T/L had a pump, now today I see they have Engine Companies doing Eng. co work and Truck Companies doing Truck Co work.



Any specific reason they had a pump on this one or a couple of the towers back then?



Why did they go to straight sticks with just ladder pipes and no more pumps?

Real Trucks do not have pumps. Some of the real Trucks bend in the middle (Tiller) but stright Trucks are good too. Real Trucks or Engines are also Solid Red, Soild White, or Black over Red with a REAL Q2B Siren. None of that fake eQ2b stuff. Just no Quints I have no use for them. Just my feelings and thoughts good times. Stay Safe Brothers



E\-One made it standard equipment on the Towers to have pumps. The sales brochure from the 1980's indicates a pump is standard and request must be made to have it built without a pump. Millwaukee's retired 1990's E\-One Hush Towers both had pumps. However the two new Pierce Towers do not have pumps which is great.

At the time that was the only Tower in the city, and E\-One only built TL's with pumps. Since then we've replaced that piece with 2 Pierce 95' MidMount TL's & a Pierce 85' Rearmount TL, none of which has a pump. None of our rearmounts have ever had pumps or prepiped ladderpipes. We don't run Quints at all. We're an Interior Department, I could count on one hand the number of times we've gone into defensive ops over the past few years and needed to set up the ladder pipes.
