Caught a pic of one of Prince George County, Va's new Chargers on a fire scene last week. They really like 'em from what I'm told.

Not the greatest shot by anyones standards but I took this when they first came to NP, my Captain used to be the mechanic at NPPD.

A shot of one of Mineral County, WV's 2 chargers on an accident scene today in New Creek. This is going to be the new paint scheme for Mineral County. The old was pretty much the same, except all white. There is one other charger in the county for now, and it has the old white scheme.
NEWS FLASH.......Anyone who travels Rt 295 in Rhode Island, beware of the MARKED Rhode Island State Police Charger. I saw it this morning coming off shift as I passed the sneaky ******* hiding in the weeds northbound at Farnum Pikes overpass. Its painted in the traditional RISP battleship grey with a spec LED bar and a bull of a push bar. I was told there are atleast 2 of them marked and 6 unmarked plus a Chrysler 300 Hemi in the RT 4 South County area.
Here's a 1981 Chrysler Newport on I295, just south of RI 37 waiting for an unwary speeder.
Oh, I'm just busting your chops. I always think it's funny how people say we're "hiding" when were parked on the side of the road and they see us. Obviously we're not hiding very well. Like it matters?...I could stand in the middle of the street trying to hand out $100 dollar bills and people would speed right past me. Just last night I was driving up the freeway in the far right lane, a marked Border Patrol unit was right alongside me two lanes over (we were the only 2 cars there), and this guy sped right past us in the empty lane between our two marked cop cars. It's just soooooo easy sometimes, who needs to hide? <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Lol' />
I think the "sneakiest" (read "most clever") set-up I've ever encountered was in Anne Arundel Co., MD in the early 90's on I-97. We were in a protracted drought, and all the grass along the highway was burned brown. A MSP trooper had his unit, a Desert Tan Ford, parked on the shoulder, with the trunk raised to hide the light bar. The car was almost invisible! He was doing a land office business in citations.
It's really too bad RISP doesn't update their cruiser image.

A few years back, the guy that does our graphics was commissioned by the Colonel of the RISP to create a "new look" for their cars. The concept was extremely handsome, retaining their signature battleship grey cars (RISP "Light Smoke Grey") with a reflective body striping package in black and red, lettering within the striping and their shoulder patch. It never came to be, as a new OIC took over and decided to retain the redundant scheme that says "State Police" no fewer than eight times on the body of the car (not counting the license plates). The only thing that was adopted was reflective striping on the f/r bumpers.

While I have nothing but respect for RISP troopers, their agency, their uniforms, etc., IMHO their cruisers are a real letdown. The scheme that our graphics guy created would have closely tied the cars and uniforms together, as the Mass State Police did starting in 1941 and continuing up to present day.
Here's a picture of the one year that I remember the RISP departing from the Gray. The color quality is poor, but it's a deep green metallic with yellow graphics. 1974 or 1975.
