no its not. L116's first house was on Buckley St. this is not their first house. it is their second house.
The Engine and Ladder are both in the same places they have always been. If you look at a photo of the old house, you will notice the names were on the right side of the house. When they fixed it up they placed the Engine and Ladder over the bays, as well as the fill hose for the water tank. However know one ever asked which rig went on which side (So I was told when I was detailed down).

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I would estimate the average age of a FDNY house at 55-60 years old. The book FHNY (cited earilier in this post) offers a look at all active FDNY firehouses along with the year that the house was built.

My house is 99 yrs old.. It is for the most part in good shape, save for the 102 jacks holding up the floor. About the same if not more holding up the truck's floor as well. Built good and solid 100 years ago, when horse drawn steamers didnt weigh as much as a Seagrave......................

39/16's house has the top three floors for the NYPD. I heard that the time that building was built, it was the tallest building in NYC. Can anyone callaborate that story?

26 Engine, a good friend of mine was detailed here on 9/11 from 34 Truck. His name was Dana Hannon, and he gave all on that fatefull day along with all of our other Brothers.
An interesting fact about 26 Engine. I believe it is the oldest or one of the oldest operating firehouses in the FDNY. In the pic, you can catch a glimpse of the spiral staircase on the rt. side (looking at the truck, rt side). The reason for the spiral staircase, is when they had the horse drawn apparatus, they had problems with the horses walking up the stairs, hence the installation of the spiral staircase.
