He sent me a reply with pictures and a note saying he would consider selling it for $3500. Here are some of the pics he sent me <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />
$3,500 seems like a small price to pay if you want this rig as bad as you say you do.

After buying a new house it is a lot more than it seems...if I had the extra $$$ it would be in my driveway now.

After buyin' one 2 years ago I'll just say this, what rust you see on the surface just times that by 10 and and thats what you'll find under the surface. Depending who you get to re-do the body your looking at 10-15k, treating just the surface rust will bite you in the A$$ in a few years. May the force be with you..............

Came across this Rig sitting in a salvage yard in Western Mass. Looks to be FDNY Ladder 49. You can still see the pinstriping......Such a shame!

That's definitely 49's old rig. What a waste!

Well folks the white/orange days have finally come to an end in Bmore City- the last white & orange truck to be purchased in 1992 before switching to red and the last white & orange piece to go sitting at Dickman St. I'm gonna miss it!

Daleville, Indiana's 1947 Ford/Howe. The Daleville/Salem Township Emergency Services Department is currently looking to refurb the unit, so it's not ready to die yet. It's been several years since it ran, but the piston pump still put out a good stream of water the last time it was tried.

Not always. I had a few minor blemishes on my '46. It sat outside for almost 5 years before I bought it. After having it for almost 8 years, there is little rust anywhere else. It's hard to judge old trucks sight unseen with a blanket statement.

I will say that the purchase price, no matter how cheap, is just the start of it. Its going to cost you probably even more in the long run just to keep the thing in good running condition. It certainly is a labor of love.
Along side I-69 in Daleville, Indiana sits this 1973 Seagrave 100' midship. I think I remember seeing Greenwood FD on the cab before being repainted for the flea market at which it now sits.

Some added information on this rig...the original owner of the flea market owned a flea market somewhere in the south, and if you had a firetruck on the grounds, it lowered your insurance premium. So, he bought this truck to put on the grounds of his new flea market...except that doesn't work in Indiana. So, there it sits...protecting nothing.
