If I am not mistaken the rear mount Seagrave may have spent some time as Ladder 1, but please do not hold me to this.

This shot was taken by Greg Simpson at the Pirkle Warehouse fire - 598 Wells Street. Capt. Dan O'Neill is on the left. I don't know who the officer in the middle is and I am on the right (in black). All of the hose had been stripped off except about 400' of the 5". The date was November 8, 1993. It was the same night that 4 firefighters had been critically burned on Fair Street earlier in the day. (Williams, Morrow, Jordan and Covington).

Shoe,

So is AFD returning to Black Gear or why did the switch to tan happen? We are finely returning to black after a twelve year depature to tan. Thankgoodness black is back. Also I never knew AFD had salad bowl helmets (metro) what was the reasoning. Thanks and stay safe brother.

Great shot. I slid the pole at 7's two years ago. A group of great brothers showed me around. Sad the Fire House never made 100 years of service.

Stay Safe Brother,

Black turnout gear has been eliminated in Atlanta. The tan stuff came in with the new style gear. We were told at the time that they didn't make the new style gear in black. I doubt we will ever go back. Those shots were taken in 1993. Atlanta did salad bowls from the late 80's when the 880s went out of compliance until the Classic 1000 came out. I was issued a black 990, but I never wore it. When I turned it back in to get my red one, it still had the tags on it. I've worn my city-issued red 1010 a couple of times. Other than that I always either have my N5A or N6A. A past chief tried to push for the European style Galet. I was in R&D at the time and we were able to dodge that bullet. I still have a red Galet as a souvenir.

I almost fell out of the chair when I found this shot on 1949ALF's web page. (Used with permission) This is a shot by Dick Adelman of Atlanta's Ladder #23. It was a 1956 ALF 700 Series TDA. I'll post job number and delivery date later. I'm trying to get some help in identifying the driver and tillerman. This shot was taken on the alley known as Garreaux Street, across from Station #23. My guess is that they could not get a shot of this rig sitting in front of the station because the ramp is so short. So, they pulled it across the street for the shot.

Somewhere in my boxes of slides I have at least one Kodachrome of Ladder 23 in action at an apartment fire on Peachtree Street, circa 1973-74. Gotta get them scanned one of these days and post same.

Here is a shot of the 1956 ALF 700 in action as Truck #11. It is in the 1960 AFD Annual Report, so the fire is prior to 1960. No ID on the picture. According to the report, this unit had 398 runs in 1959.

If a company can't respond because it's not staffed, it's closed. Whether for a day or for ever, closed is closed. Love the 'creative thinking.'

Hang in there Capt.

It was Pirsch serial #PH-61 and served at Engine 11 and later at Engine 19. It was delivered on 8/16/1962, had a 1000gpm pump and I'm not sure what size tank. It was on a Ford C1000 chassis.
