Howie, If wishes were horses then beggars would ride! I had my eyes on Engine 11's C-Mack, Cambridge's Rescue 1 CF/Gertie, and an ugly-as sin '58 GMC 860 tractor. Being a humble civil servant, though.......well you know the rest!
It was one of, if not the largest, collection of collectible trucks ever brought to auction in New England.

I will look in my files, and post whatever I find! I was under time constraints on viewing day, and his collection covered two huge lots on both sides of route 1. I lost count of the number of great old iron I saw!

The rig in question is built on a 1929 Lincoln touring car chassis. The body was home built in Southern Pacific's Alhambra Shops in Los Angeles. This is also the same location where the rig was used before the Alhambra Shops where closed. The rig was moved a few miles over to the new Taylor Shop complex at Taylor Yard, also in Los Angeles. I have poked at it a little over the years which is how I know what I know about it, I didn't just get it through osmosis. Sure, I'd take it on as a project but I already have enough of my own projects as it is and spending time on it would take away valuble time working on other things.
