it is a damn shame that this old gal couldnt be saved, i loved to see her pulling out of center house , with its unique sound federal and the fires that she has seen, it does bring a tear to the eye <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Winthrop sold it 2 years ago, the person that bought it from the town is probably selling it.

On a side-note, the Winthrop truck looks pretty sad sitting there all alone. I have fond memories, my first ever ride to a call in a firetruck was in that piece when I was a young kid. Iam not sure who added the fake wheel covers but those are pretty cheesy.

I like "chrome sims" as a rule - it shows company pride. I agree, those wheel covers are pure Cheese Whiz. With very few exceptions, I've found that "Used Car Lot" fire engines have a LOT to be desired, up to and including having the capability of safely driving off the lot! You know the type, dealer pays $500 at a town auction, and plops it on the lot for $5K. This Winthrop piece, however, seems like that rare exception. But have to wonder where the seller's head is on this. In this present economic situation, wouldn't make more sense to sell this in a venue like PA Fireman, or one of the commercial fire engine outfits like FireTec? Even Ebay? I imagine there are hundreds of small departments that would consider this rig (dependent on condition and price, of course) that would love to update their aerial capability. Also, this rig appears to be lower in profile than many rigs, and would also appear to many departments. Anyone know what shape this rig is in? I assume the aerial is 2 years out of cert. Just my .01, what say you 'Pixers?
