Boston Fire Department
efin98 are these extra units being deployed because of all the traffic or traffic being rerouted due to the closure of 1 of the Big Dig tunnels?

The Chelsea and Revere engines aren't "deployed", just respond into East Boston. And they have responded into East Boston for a while.

Engine 40 being activated is because of the closure though.

I have always liked the look of E\-One's rearmount TLs, not sure why.

I think it is because the E\-One Rearmount Tower Ladder is well proportioned.

That street is within E10's area so it's safe to assume that, and Tower Ladder 3 in the background pretty much seals it as E10 to me.

Both you and EFIN98 are right but at the same time a little off. This is one of the spare/reserve Engines, its a 1987 E\-One Cyclone.

It's the same engine company, that's the rig they are running now.

a horrid station shot but I couldn't resist- Engine 8 and Ladder 24 covering Engine 9 and Ladder 2's area during a small fire at Suffolk Downs this evening.

I asked one of the jakes from Engine 8 who was sent or covering and could only get confirmation on Ladder 1 covering for Ladder 21 and Engine 10 was sent to the fire.

Some shots from the actual fire here.

My hat is off to you dispatchers, a fire like that with shifting coverage and responses to compensate for the unavailability of first and even second alarm responses and coverage has to be a pain in the neck <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hail.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Hail' />

I am sure it has been posted but I am unable to locate it... why do the new Pierce engines have the deck gun mounted near the front of the roof atop the apparatus cab?
