Quote:Further info: POST 213; 1975 MackMB/Howe 1000/1000 orig. PT. Marion,PA. sold 1999 to Isabella,PA. That VFC had extreme misfortune several years ago, so this may have been their last apparatus....
Good news Doctor!
Isabella is still alive and kicking. After the auction last Saturday I took a drive through rural Fayette County and went down to Isabella. They now run one of Moon Township, Allegheny County, old Ford C/Boardman Engines and I believe a brush truck of some kind. The Engine was sitting outside as the apparatus bay was set up for an event of some kind.
Here it is...
Doc, are you from the Pittsburgh area?

As stated, this was originally a red Pittsburgh rig. After East Carnegie (in Scott Township, south of Pittsburgh) lost thier station and all their apparatus to a fire (1980's?) the city donated it to them. That is why it is silver over blue. West Brownsville bought it and kept it the same color. 4x4=very rare, I believe
The Larimer Engine was purchased by some of the members of the fire department. However, the idiot (me) that is in charge of storing it has it sitting outside... It ran from 1967 until 2003 when it was sold to a collector out near Ebensburg. It ended up in Denbo in 2004. Big Model N Continental motor, eats gas and runs like a champ!
Some more info on the other local rigs later.

Please see PM. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/computer.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I received an e-mail from Deputy chief5 today that for $945 the Hancock,MD. VFC has obtained their 1950 Dodge/American engine. The rig was towed to Hancock this past weekend and placed in a rented garage. Hopefully some TLC and a few $ will result in another neat antique on the parade circuit! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/fireman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Quote:30.) Unknown Maxim Laddeer Truck from Norwich, VT VIN RXLDH141529 Sold for $1700. Maybe Howie can give more info on this one
Sorry guys, I have no idea where this truck came from before Norwich, but hope to find out. I was away the last week and was just scanning the thread hoping to see this truck sold. It was sold to someone that I "know" from my Maxim website. He was going to get me a SN/VIN and I can tell you more from that. The VIN above is just for the Hercules RXLD engine, not the Maxim truck itself.
Thanks for taking the time to get some info for those of us that document it. Probably a dumb question, but what is ONE person to do with all this apparatus? Why did he buy so much?

As with all of the units described here I posted the VIN number as described by the auctioneer in the lititure.
I do believe that his intentions were to build and display in a museum. As for the number he purchased which I think was in excess of 300 fire engines and 250+ calssic cars and 50+ misc other vehicles and construction equip. - I HAVE NO CLUE!

A guy I know from NY bought the Maxim ladder, or at least thats what he emailed a about 2 weeks ago. I saw in another post that the photo was in another flyer for a second auction. Its quite possible that the deal fell through but I don't think so. Still waiting to hear about he particulars.
Again, nice job with the info. I actually posted some your auction price information (although edited/brief) on my Maxim website as it seems that the most popular question I get asked is, "How much is my fire truck worth?" For some reason, people think that these things are worth their weight in gold.
Talked to the auctioneer on Sunday, and he says he's not being let onto the old Pechins property (where the final auction on 9/16 will be held) till after the 1st of September. Apparently they have quite a mess down there to deal with and only recently got the O.K. from the state Fire Marshal to enter the property. Doesn't sound like any more apparatus is going to be offered, and the cars are "not the cream of the crop" and figure most of them aren't worth the scrap value.

A person near Reading, PA was the final winner and has gotten it running but still working on it as it sat for several years. He is hoping to have it on display and pumping with the Cumberland and Dunbar OPEN CAB MACK's at the Harrisburg muster in 2007.

The Cassandra Engine still lives a quiet humble life. The engine however has been started since the owner purchased it and I was told it runs good. It now resides in Berlin, MD. Those who know this city can make an educated guess as to who owns it. Picture taken in Jan 06.

The new Pechin's Supermarket just built a restaurant built around a firehouse theme this summer. Last time I saw it, the Sutphen Duplex was sitting outside the the store, I don't know if they planned to move it inside the "firehouse" or not.
