[quote name='Crossbronxxpress' date='Nov 10 2008, 11:48 ' post='260369']

With all due respect, i'm just trying to figure out where you're getting your info from????? Frankly speaking, you're not on the F.D.N.Y., and don't "Know" squat. There are MANY of us on the F.D.N.Y. who will be affected by these nightly firehouse closings, if he does decide to proceed with them. And those raises that you speak of were fought hard for by our union, and are rightly DESERVED! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/3_5_15.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='3_5_15' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/3_12_21.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='3_12_21' />

I AM WITH MARK--IF YOUR NOT ON THE JOB AND YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT INFO--DON'T GUESS--DON'T SPEAK--IT CAUSES PROBLEMS !!!!!

They've been doing the same here in my city since the summer. Here, instead of closing the engine every night they do it for 48 straight hours. Been at least three jobs in areas where the first due engine was closed due to a "brown out." Unfortunately I just don't think the bean counters will ever learn. I have family and friends still on FDNY and know this much...no matter what is thrown at them by the city they will still be out there getting it done.

So, put 3,2, Rescue, RIT Co., Chief, on the street, and to work, for a struck box...really quickly I might add.

No telling how many lives and buildings are saved as a result.

And the solution to the money woes is...cuts or brownouts???

Our efforts, (and in my opinion, they are EXTREMELY successful efforts), seem to be reason for some to believe that "there aren't that many fires anymore, so let's cut back/eliminate."

The "Original" Tin House. Tactical Control Unit 712 moved here on July 8, 1971 with Engine 85 from Engine 82/Ladder 31's quarters. Ladder 59 was organized here on November 24, 1972 from TCU 712 and stayed until they moved to Engine 43's quarters on April 17, 1978. Engine 85 stayed until the company was deactivated on May 20, 1986 in order to reorganize Ladder 53 on City Island at which time I believe the house was closed.
