Dave Fritz
Long gone, not sure if it is still in service with another dept. or if it is razor blades. Believe it was replaced about 5 years ago.

Dave Fritz It is no longer in service. I believe the rig you were refferring to was a GMC cab with a 1967 Seagrave TDA. It also came out of company 2's house. Also long retired. HWD
Yuck! What a HORRIBLE color to paint a noble rig like that! LOL! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/usa.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
IT WAS A NICE SHADE OF DARK RED WITH GOLD LEAF OF COURSE. BUT THE CHIEF OF THE VOLLIES WANTED TO BE DIFFERANT AND BROAD CHANNEL OPERATED WITHIN THE CONFINES OF NYC AND WOULD RESPOND TO CALLS ON THE ISLAND WITH FDNY. THIS ALLOWED THE CITIZENS TO SEE WHERE THEIR DONATIONS WERE GOING AS BROAD CHANNEL IS NOX TAX SUBSIDIZED. Amagansett still owns the studabaker as the department antique.

Dave Fritz
Part of the rig is still in service - the trailer was rehabbed and is now Hilton Head SC Ladder 6, albeit with an ALF Metropolitan tractor. Once they got the rig, it took Hilton Head almost a year to get it into regular service. The KW tractor was scrapped, I believe. Jon Umbdenstock |
