Does anyone have any information on this vehicle?

With the number 4 on it, I would assume that it saw service with the Short Beach Hook & Ladder Company No. 4. I'll see if anyone I know has anyu information about it. Can I have permission to use the photo and to possibly post on another site to obtain information for you?

The CP-100 Federal Signal electronic siren speakers mounted flush in the face of the cab was a Hahn first I think. Radnor, PA had them on each of their Hahn's for years.

What happened to Hahn and its name? Did anyone pick up the inventory?

The remnants of Hahn Motors was sold to American LaFrance where it was never seen again. Twenty years later, there are hundreds of Hahns still in service, testament to the folks who built them.

I don't know for sure, but the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon, PA use to own a fire truck which they used at their street fair. It was named Good Samaritan Sadie. It is entirely possible this was the first they had and may have been an Ex-Lebanon City rig. But I really don't know, just shooting at needles in the haystack in the dark.

Ahmen! I know Hahn went through the same rusting issues with the mid-70's rigs as everyone did, but all in all, they where very sound rigs.

Hahn did not have a major rust problem. There was isolated issues, and the biggest rust problem was on the 92 chassis, where the jumpseat floor was attached to the outer chassis wall. Also just past the pump running board on the rear wheel cabnets was rusted on a few rigs.

I started my time as a volley in a station with two Hahns. An 82 and an 88. With their distintive sounding pipes from the detroit diesels in them... It was VERY hard not to know when one of them was coming down the road. A company called East Penn Fire Apparatus (I believe thats the name) worked out of one of the facilities that was formerly Hahn owned and retained some inventory from them. They eventually performed a rehab/ cab conversion on our 82 that I thought ended up rough looking. Atleast in my humble opinion.

The rust issue I've heard of before... and once again a very humble opinion. As long as the rig is taken care of like it should be the rust is a non-issue. Our rigs stayed cleaned and polished. We washed our rigs after most runs and in the spring time every year we would crawl up under the rigs, scrub them down and spray undercoating where needed. We were taught to have respect for the apparatus we depended on.
