Thanks to Frank and Shoop in his thread for posting the classic OWL rigs, they certainly had some cool rigs over the years. I've been by OWL station 2 twice and those guys were top notch with moving the rigs. Very hospitable group when I visited <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Thumbsup' />

Ok, the rescue was sold to a department in NY, I will be posting a photo of it in red & white. Last I heard that department sold it to someone in Minnesota. Unable to confirm where.



The 73 Hahn pumpers;

S-104, (our vehicle#) went to Gainesville-Haymarket VFD back in the mid 80's. Unknown where it is now.

S-105 went to somone in Fauquier county, I think The Plains

S-106 was the one that got the E\-One glider kit. Sold to private owner believe he was from West Virginia



The 81's

S-107 received a local rehab at Middleton & Meads in Baltimore about 1990. It got fresh paint couple of new compartment doors. Both pumpers went to a department in Sout Carolina, Antioch I think.



The '82 TDA is with an Old Dominion Historical member, status of rehab unknown.

Most Departments that I deal with are very nice. When one is not, it stands out.



I realised after I posted (#1031) about the E-1 replacements of the Hahn's, they were purchased after Hahn was closed (late 1989)



Also, there was a very nice Woodbridge thread on firepics in the past. all of these and many older trucks were posted by fire pics members[/color]

With regards to the OWL-VFD purchasing E\-One's after the 81 Hahns were delivered: American Fire Equipment of Woodbridge, Virginia became the E\-One dealer for the region in the 1980s. Many of the Hahn customers that came through the Metro-DC area (DCFD, OWL-VFD, Dale City VFD) went on to become E\-One customers in the later 80s and early 90s before Pierce began making significant inroads into the Metro-DC market. And as an FYI, one of the OWL-VFD volunteer chiefs (very conscientious fireground commander) was a long time employee of AFE. Maybe that helps connect some dots!

Thanks for all the pictures of the O.W.L. rigs, I have always thought between the color scheme and the MARS lights they were standouts. I look forward to seeing more!

Back in the late 80's or early 90's, a group of us young rebels attempted a proposal that we switch from yellow back to red. Looking back I'm glad that it didn't pass! That combo really does give our apparatus a unique look.

Yeah, definitely a good call on it not passing. There are very few departments anymore where you can easily identify whose rigs they are. The O.W.L. rigs are VERY easy to indentify. It's the ONLY department I know of that operates solid yellow rigs with the infamous 3 MARS lights. SHARP RIGS!!

I may be able to provide some insight on where one of the 1973 Hahn's ended up. I believe it is S-105 from your information, as it appears S-104 and S-106 had definite homes after OWL.



I took this photo back in October of 1996 at Linden, Virgina (located just off of I66 in Warren County). It was obviously not in service and sitting outside to the rear of the station. Look at where the headlights were and you can see the OWL color. I believe Linden was hoping to place it into service, and they started to get somewhere with that plan because they had it painted. I was told the motor blew and the Hahn may have ended up in Waterlick, Virginia.



My information on the rear of the photo shows the Hahn serial number is HC543127318 - 1973 Hahn 1500/500.

Thanks again for info Mike. That definitely looks like her and like you pointed out there is the tell tale yellow showing through. I'm trying to locate our old records to put vin numbers to our vehicle numbers.

I just hope this one didn't end up like the Pirsch.

Mike, this is one of the Woodbridge 1973 Hahn's the Hahn numbers match
